Sure, we've given you a list of our top 10 most popular stories of 2011, but we figured we'd go a bit more broad than that. We also thought it would be interesting to give you a look at the top ten most read stories on this site this year, period, regardless of what year they were posted. We must say, we're just as surprised as you are at what did (and didn't) make the list! For example, you guys seem to really like Monster's Beats by Dr. Dre audio line. Here we go:
- ColorWare now offering custom-painted Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headphones
- Limited Edition white Beats by Dr. Dre headphones hands-on: You can't deny that Monster has a hit on their hands with the Beats by Dr. Dre line of headphones.
- SLEEPTRACKER Watch review: This one focuses on a watch that tracks your sleep data and aims to wake you up when you are in your lightest phase of sleep. The result is that you wake up feeling more rested, and more refreshed.
- Exclusive: Pink Beats by Dr. Dre Charles Hamilton customs
- iOS 5 review
- Yes, Steve Jobs is back at Apple Campus
- iPhone 3G vs iPod touch 2G in pictures: Odd that an image gallery featuring the iPhone and iPod touch from two years ago made our top ten list, but there it is!
- Modify your Xbox without a mod chip: This one comes as no surprise--there are a lot of modders out there.
- White iPhone 4 vs. black iPhone 4 comparison
- Exclusive: Red Beats by Dr. Dre LeBron James customs
Any surprises? We've also compiled a list of the stories that have dropped out of the top ten between 2010 and 2011, which you can check out after the jump, and don't miss the ten most popular Gear Live videos of 2011 either!

ColorWare offering custom-painted iPhone 4 with antenna fix
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Cell Phones, Design, Handhelds

The folks over at ColorWare are at it again, this time offering their custom color design services for the iPhone 4. The interesting bit here, though, is that while they aim to make your iPhone 4 more stylish, they are also in the process of confirming that letting them add a bit of style to your device will also solve any death grip antenna woes you may be experiencing. Now, a $29 Bumper Case from Apple will do the same thing, and that’s a hell of a lot cheaper than the $250 ColorWare will charge you while also offering protection from damage—however, some of us choose style over function, and that antenna fix is just a nice value-added bonus to getting a spiffed up custom device.

We’ve got one more look at a rare version of the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones for you guys. This time, it’s the custom Red #23 Beats that were made exclusively for LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. As we mentioned a few days ago, these custom Beats headphones were presented to the Cavs, and the team loved the gift. You can see that these Beats are done up in Cavs colors, and even have the number 23 (that would be LeBron) on them as well. About 20 of these were made, and 15 of them went to the team, so don’t expect to get your hands on them anytime soon. You can, however, get a better look at them in our Red Beats by Dr. Dre LeBron James customs gallery.
Also, in case you missed them, we’ve also got galleries up of the white Ron Herman Beats, and the pink Charles Hamilton Beats. Or, you prefer the original, we’ve got the standard Beats by Dr. Dre gallery as well.

Colorware now painting iMac, iPod classic, iPod nano, and iPod touch
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Design, PC / Laptop

We recently clued you in to the fact that Colorware was offering custom iPhone paint jobs, but Lars just let us know that they are now offering customization on the new iPod classic, iPod nano, and iPod touch lines. If that wasn’t enough, they are even taking order for paint jobs on the new aluminum iMac as well. Colorware already does the Mac mini, so it would seem the only thing left out would be the Mac Pro. It’s probably for the best. In any event, you can head over to Colorware now if you want to get your paint on. They’ll allow you to send in your device to be painted, or you can purchase a brand new one directly from them. Of course, this all comes at a premium.

Colorware Now Offering iPhone Paint Jobs
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Cell Phones, Design, Handhelds, Mods / Hacks, Portable Audio / Video

With the iPhone selling as well as it is, we are betting there are plenty of opportunities for people to get theirs mixed up with that of someone elses. After all, do you really want to turn it on and verify that the wallpaper on any iPhone you happen to grab really is your bulldog in his pink tutu? This is why we are intrigued by ColorWare‘s latest addition to their custom paint services; that being for the iPhone. While it isn’t the cheapest thing in the world (but really - is anything involving the iPhone cheap?), we know from first-hand experience that ColorWare’s work is pretty darn impressive - just check out the paint job they did for our 3G iPod back in the day. To get a painted iPhone in your hands, you can take advantage of one of three options - you can pay them $149 USD and mail in your iPhone and they will do it up nice and send it back, or you can just purchase a brand new iPhone from them, which they will then paint and send to you. That runs $649 USD for a 4GB model, and $749 for an 8GB version.
