Clicks Wants $499 Today for a Keyboard Phone That Ships in December

For two years Clicks sold you a keyboard that snapped onto somebody else's phone. Now it wants to sell you the whole phone, and it wants the full $499 about three months before one lands in your hands.
The Clicks Communicator is a small Android phone with a physical keyboard under a 4.03-inch screen, the arrangement you last took seriously on a BlackBerry. Clicks locked in the final specs this week, opened order configuration, and said shipments begin in December. The $499 launch price runs through September 30. On October 1 it becomes $649.

Zelda Gets a 40th Anniversary Direct Tuesday, Switch 2’s Winter Slate Lands Wednesday

Nintendo is running two shows next week, and the first one belongs entirely to Link. The Legend of Zelda gets a half hour to itself on Tuesday morning, then the company comes back Wednesday to talk about what you can actually buy before the end of the year.
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct airs Tuesday, September 8 at 7am PT / 10am ET and runs roughly 30 minutes. A general Nintendo Direct follows Wednesday, September 9 at the same time, running about 45 minutes and focused on Switch 2 games launching this winter. Both stream on Nintendo's YouTube and Twitch channels.
Apple’s Fall Event Is Set for September 9, and It’s John Ternus’s First One

Apple finally put a date on the biggest phone announcement of the year, and the most interesting thing about it might not be a phone at all. Invites went out Wednesday morning with the tagline "Surprise and shine." The event happens Wednesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Eastern) at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus.
You can watch it the usual ways: Apple's website, YouTube, and the Apple TV app. What actually separates this one from the last decade of Septembers is who will be standing at the front of it. John Ternus takes over as Apple's CEO on September 1, with Tim Cook shifting to executive chairman. That makes September 9 Ternus's first keynote in the job.

I often spend time talking about smart homes and amazing smart home tech, voice assistants, and other ways to use new digital technology to control and manage your home from the palm of your hand or with the sound of your voice. It’s futuristic and fun, but it’s also a privilege. I’m fully aware of the position I’m in as a tech expert and reviewer as someone who gets to play with these fantastic toys early and often - but even more so, to be able to live comfortably without having to worry about having a place to call home, or how I am going to pay the next month’s mortgage or rent bill. However, this is not the case for many, many people, and that’s why I’ve teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to shed some light on the affordable housing crisis that we’re seeing here in the USA and to let you know about the Home is the Key campaign.
What does the word “home” mean to you? What thoughts and feelings does it bring to your mind? As I’ve been thinking about this over the past couple of weeks, I never settle on just one thought. First, I think of the home I grew up in as a kid with my family, full of love, great food, laughter, support, and plenty of harmless sibling rivalry to go around. It’s the home where I came from, and the place where I felt safe to try new things, fail at things, and plant the seeds of where I wanted to go as an adult. It was a very important place for me, especially, as a child who grew up in the foster care system to finally have a place - a home and a family - to call my own. I’d seen both sides of the fence - As a child I’d been homeless, I’d lived in poverty, I’d moved from place to place, and at the end I found that true “home.”
