Michael Jackson memoriesWe gve you a look at celebrities mourning Michael Jackson on Twitter, but many have released longer statements as well. Madonna says she “can’t stop crying” about the death of Michael Jackson.

The singer has been sobbing uncontrollably since she heard the 50-year-old Jackson had passed away yesterday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home. She said: “I can’t stop crying over the sad news. I have always admired . The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless.”

Singer Sir Elton John was halfway though his annual White Tie and Tiara Ball when he heard about Michael’s death. Michael Jackson DiesMichael Jackson is dead.

It is alleged the ‘Thriller’ singer passed away from cardiac arrest today, June 25th 2009. The news was first broken by TMZ, with CNN reporting he was in a coma. Emergency services in California confirm they rushed a 50-year-old man to hospital this afternoon, but strict privacy laws mean that they cannot confirm if it was the singer.

TMZ reported: “Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. When paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back. A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but they had no luck. We’re told one of the staff members at Jackson’s home called 911. LaToya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.”

The singer’s family are believed to be at the UCLA hospital in the city, which has been cordoned off by police tape.

Michael - who has three children, Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 10 and seven-year-old Prince Michael II - was believed to have been suffering from skin cancer and was due to embark on a comeback 50-date residency at O2 Arena in London next month. The first dates of the tour were delayed amid concerns for his health.

Uri Geller - one of Michael’s closest friends - told Sky News: “Like the whole world I’m absolutely devastated and lost for words because everyone expected him to come to England. He was in good health - he was rehearsing and dancing. I’m shocked.”

Kris Allen

UPDATE: Lambert tells E! Online that he has a deal lined up with RCA.

Adam Lambert may still be weighing a future with or without Queen, but Kris Allen is already plugging ahead with his career.

Less than three weeks after winning , the Season 8 winner has officially scored his record deal. His contract with 19 Recordings and Jive Records falls in line with deals already made with Jordin Sparks and David Archuleta, two other Idol contestants.

“Everyone’s been asking me what it’s going to sound like. It will be very similar to what you heard from me on the show — definitely in the pop/rock genre. I can’t wait to get started!,” Allen revealed in a statement.

Kris will most likely juggle studio time with Idol‘s 50-city tour to make the fall release of his album. His performance of “No Boundaries” currently sits at #23 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Gene Simmons might not see Adam Lambert as a rocker, but his opinion isn’t shared by all. The members of Queen were so impressed with the American Idol finalist, they’ve even expressed interest in working with Lambert again. Maybe even on a permanent basis.

When asked about the frontman rumors, guitarist Brian May denied any job offers were made after last week’s season ender. But that doesn’t mean America hasn’t already seen the new Freddie Mercury. “Amongst all that furor, there wasn’t really a quiet moment to talk. But [drummer Roger Taylor] and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with him at some point,” May revealed to Rolling Stone. “It’s not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn’t that easy. But I’d certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there.”

Gene Simmons in KISSWhether they loved it or hated it, everyone seems to have an opinion about American Idol 8‘s finale.

Even though he fully believes Adam Lambert will have a brighter career than Kris Allen, Gene Simmons doesn’t necessarily agree with the contestant’s musical leanings. The KISS bassist - who performed with Adam during the recent finale - told fans that he doesn’t see rock n’ roll in Lambert’s future.

“Respectfully, I don’t think Adam is a rock singer,” Simmons wrote on his website. “He sounds much more convincing singing ballads and Broadway shows. His voice doesn’t seem to have a ‘rock quality.’ But, I’m sure he’s going to do just fine.”

Hmmm, Broadway? Maybe Lambert has more in common with than the Season 2 contestant would like to admit!

American IdiotEarly next year, U2’s Bono and The Edge will officially be listed as the composers for Broadway’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. But those unable to make it to New York can get an entirely different rock opera experience on the West Coast.

Beginning this fall, the Berkeley Repertory Theater in California will feature American Idiot, a stage musical based on Green Day’s 2004 album of the same name. The production is being directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) and co-written by the band’s lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong.

The 2004 album, which included such songs as Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Wake Me Up When September Ends, followed the story of Jesus of Suburbia, a disaffected suburban kid-turned-drug dealer. Idiot went on to win several Grammys (Best Rock Album, Record of the Year) and sell 12 million copies.
