Tuesday Ratings: So-So Start for Parenthood

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Lost, Ratings,
Endless promos during the Winter Olympics didn’t exactly result in large numbers for Parenthood. Although NBC’s new drama did have a small victory in the demos, the program was still a far second with the viewers.
8pm
- American Idol (23.5 million, 8.6/22 in 18-49) was down 500,000 from last week.
- NCIS (4.1/11) returned to 19.7 million.
- The Biggest Loser (3.2/8) raised 8.3 million.
- Lost* (1.6/4) recapped 4.3 million.
- 90210* (0.3/1) turned in 736,000.

MONDAY (3/1)
- Chuck (NBC, 8pm): “Sarah resolves to keep her relationship with Shaw (Brandon Routh) purely professional.” It’s hard not knowing why all the girls call him a “Superman” around the water cooler.
- The Buried Life (MTV, 10pm): “The crew hits both coasts while attempting to land an appearance on late-night TV.” I hear Carson Daly is always looking to fill a few guest seats.
- Hoarders (A&E, 10pm): “A mother of 12 who sleeps in a homeless shelter because conditions at home are bad is profiled.” Note to Nadya Suleman: Hoarding children can make you homeless.

NBC Lays Out Post-Leno Schedule

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Reality, NBC,
Although it’s still unclear exactly when Conan O’Brien will finally depart The Tonight Show (it’s believed his last day will be January 22), we do know what will air in place of Jay Leno’s soon-to-be-old time slot.
As NBC Universal TV chairman Jeff Gaspin stated earlier, the network will not be introducing five new dramas to that time period. Instead, the network has basically reshuffled programs already placed on their midseason schedule.
Starting Monday, March 1, these are the shows that will air at 10:00: Law & Order (a move from Friday time slot), Parenthood, Law & Order: SVU (originals will move to later time slot), The Marriage Ref and Dateline NBC.

Casting Corner: Parenthood, Cougar Town, Criminal Minds and More

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, 30 Rock, 24, Grey’s Anatomy, Spoilers,

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
Parenthood: What was once linked to both Maura Tierney and Helen Hunt, now belongs to Lauren Graham. The Gilmore Girls actress has officially been cast as Sarah Braverman in NBC’s Parenthood. Tierney was originally supposed to play the single mother of two teenagers before she was sidelined with breast cancer. A failed deal then kept Hunt from taking over the part.

Maura Tierney Exits Parenthood After Cancer Diagnosis

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC, News,

A temporary leave of absence has turned into a complete exit for Maura Tierney.
The ER star had originally been scheduled to appear this fall in a new NBC show titled Parenthood. But when a tumor was discovered in one of her breasts, the series was pushed to the mid-season calendar to accommodate Tierney’s medical evaluations. Unfortunately, it appears Maura will need further treatment.
