Chris Martin: I Don’t Care That Coldplay Isn’t Cool

Chris MartinChris Martin doesn't care that people think Coldplay isn't "cool."

The "Magic" singer admits the group - also made up of Johnny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion - have never been seen as fashionable but after scoring the fastest-selling album of 2014 with Ghost Stories, they have proved they have longevity.

"We have never been the coolest thing or the most fashionable thing. Well, maybe for a period. It just feels like we're able to keep rolling and no-one really notices. I feel like every day we're given is a real blessing. I could not have asked for a more dreamy job," Chris, 37, said.

Although the band have had repeated success and toured the world, they realize that Coldplay may not last forever, according to the Daily Star newspaper. "If we're in that place in 10 years, that's amazing. But if we're not, that's okay," Chris said.

Chris Martin’s Skeleton DJ Disguise

Chris MartinChris Martin disguised himself as a skeleton to DJ at an Arcade Fire show.

Concert-goers were completely unaware the Coldplay frontman was in the fancy dress outfit spinning records at the band's show at London's Roundhouse earlier this month.

Speaking about the gig - in which fans were asked to attend in either formal wear or fancy dress - frontman Win Butler told BBC Radio 2, "[Chris] was out at the DJ booth with me the other night wearing a skull mask. It was pretty cool. He was the hype man, he's an amazing hype man." When quizzed as to whether the audience recognized Chris, the "After-Life" singer replied ,"I don't think so."

Win also hinted Arcade Fire will be appearing at UK festivals next summer, but remained tight lipped as to which events they would perform at, teasing "get your wellies ready" and saying he had recently bought his six-month-old son his first pair of wellington boots in preparation for the festival season.

Chris Martin Working on U2 Album?

Bono and Chris MartinChris Martin is rumored to be helping U2 with their new album.

The Coldplay frontman reportedly joined the Irish rockers - Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. - at Electric Lady Studios in New York City, where they have been working on their 13th album with producer Danger Mouse. According to fan site atu2.com, "Our reporter saw Coldplay's Chris Martin arrive, followed by Larry Mullen Jr. about two minutes later. Shortly after that, a van arrived with three guitars - each with a white label that said 'U2/Edge' - and our reporter actually helped bring the gear into the studio. He saw Larry and Chris Martin together in another room before heading back outside."

The site says when Chris was later approached, he denied he had been in the studio.

The singer is a good friend of Bono and a long time fan of U2, previously saying of the group, "We respect any musician, particularly ones who have kept going and not changed line-up and have always been good."

Coldplay Working on New Album

ColdplayColdplay have already started work on their new album.

The band's frontman Chris Martin says the group are working on tracks for the next LP, a follow-up to last year's Mylo Xyloto, and laughed off reports they were going to have a three-year break.

"I've been writing songs and I'm so fired up about the band's future. I'm fortunate to do what I do and no way do I want to stop. This three-year break idea only came about because I said at a gig in Australia that we might not be back there for three years. That's probably true, but that's just how a world tour works. No chance are we taking a three-year break," he said.

Coldplay to Take Three-Year Break

Chris Martin of ColdplayColdplay will take a three year break from touring.

The British band's frontman Chris Martin made the announcement as they finished the Australian leg of their world tour in Brisbane on Wednesday, but admitted to some doubts about the hiatus. "This is the last big show for three years or so. I don't want to stop," he said.

The group have three dates left on their current world tour, including a concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut on December 29 followed by two shows at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn although they have hinted they are already working on a new album.

Speaking about their last record, 2011's Mylo Xyloto, Chris promised fans the new release will be easier to pronounce: "The next one we're releasing is much easier to pronounce." When pressed further about what the next album will be called, Chris said, "I can't tell you that."

Coldplay closed the Paralympic Games last night. The "Paradise" group performed a 15 song set at the closing ceremony of the games at the Olympic Stadium in London.

The group took to the stage with "Us Against the World" before launching into one of their most recognizable anthems, "Yellow." Jay-Z for Paralympics Closing Ceremony

Jay-ZJay-Z will perform at the Paralympics Closing Ceremony.

The rapper is set to join Coldplay and his protege Rihanna at the event in London on Sunday after the British band's frontman Chris Martin approached him. "Jay-Z and Chris Martin are close friends so he helped to get the rapper on board. They are putting together a spectacular set list - one likely to include a duet. It's going to be one hell of a show and fans of both artists will be trying to get tickets. The Paralympics has exceeded all expectation and, like the rest of the world, Jay-Z has been blown away by their bravery and athleticism. This will be a concert like no other and a fantastic end to what has been the most successful Paralympics ever," a source said.

Speaking previously about the event, Chris said the band were "honored" to have been chosen. "Being asked to play at the closing celebrations for the Paralympic athletes in London is such a great honor for us. Kim Gavin and Misty Buckley are working hard to put on a spectacular Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony for the athletes and spectators in the stadium, and everyone watching around the world, and we are so happy to be involved," Chris explained.

Coldplay Delighted with Their ‘Good Problem’

ColdplayColdplay are struggling to make substitutions in their gig setlists because their performances have been "killer."

The "Paradise" hitmakers - Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Jonny Buckland - are experiencing a "good problem" during their US tour in that they are unsure where to make changes from gig to gig because each show has been a "total belter."

"The fellas are clearly having a properly great time - and the shows have been total belters as a result. San Jose were a pretty damn loud crowd. Perhaps it's been like this every night and I just spent more time with my earpieces out, taking it all in. They're most definitely in the zone right now. There have been tinkerings, though with some possible setlist additions in soundchecks. One of the Viva album tracks that only got a rare live outing has had a workout. I really hope it makes it back into the setlist, it's one of my all time favorite Coldplay live tracks (particularly the ending when Jonny goes off into full on guitar hero territory). They also played around with something from a long way back. It's all a sign of a band very much alive and enjoying themselves. The possibilities keep appearing left and right for great additions, but the set right now is so killer that it's tough to work out where to make substitutions. I'd call that a good problem to have," Coldplay's roadie revealed on their blog.

Coldplay Host Intimate London Show

ColdplayColdplay joked it was "like playing for their family" at an intimate gig in London last night. The "Paradise" band played at the 500-capacity Camden Dingwalls venue for the first time since 1998, when they had just released their debut Safety EP.

During the set lead singer Chris Martin told the crowd, "This is like playing for our family. It's so f***ing small. I've got more cousins than this! We're used to lasers and posh stuff, and now we've got nothing but our instruments and our handsome bass player."

As the band - completed by Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion - took to the stage, opening their set with new song "Hurts Like Heaven" from their Mylo Xyloto album, things got off to a shaky stage, as the band made a couple of mistakes. "This is worse than 14 years ago. We f***ed that up as well. Come on, we're a professional band for f**k's sake," Chris joked.

The show saw the band perform against a graffiti inspired backdrop and was attended by lucky fans picked from 60,000 who had applied for the free tickets.
