HTC threw a big coming out party for its new HTC 10 Android smartphone, which I am still calling the best Android phone of 2016. I was on hand at the event, and in this episode I bring you a look at what went down at Canoe Studios in Chelsea.
HTC brought in a bunch of journalists, bloggers, YouTubers, and tech influencers to check out the new HTC 10 smartphone, learn about all of its features, enjoy some great food and music, and pick up our review units of the device. During the event I was also able to sit down with HTC's Nigel Newby-House for a one-on-one interview, and played with the HTC Vive as well.

Bleeding Edge TV 576: HTC One A9 review

This is the HTC One A9 - this isn’t an iPhone. But, if you wish you could get an Android device in the shape of an iPhone, well, here you go. HTC says that it sold aluminum unibody devices before Apple did, and they’re right. Ever since the One M7 at the start of 2013, HTC has been promoting its signature aluminum unibody design, characterized by a particular mix of subtle curves and precise straight lines. But hey, the camera, camera flash, and even corner radius on the A9 device matches the iPhone 6 and 6s, and those antenna bands look awfully familiar as well.
If you read the One A9’s spec sheet, you’d probably think of it as a mid-range phone with nothing special about it. But that’s why spec sheets should be ignored for the most part. Using the One A9 shows what happens when a phone makes the most of its components, resulting in a device that compares favorably with most other companies' flagship smartphones.
The HTC One A9 is a good phone. However, the price is the issue. $500. Decent battery life, above average performance, decent software options, decent camera. This is a mid-range phone with mid-range specs with an expensive price tag. It doesn’t compete in a market where you can drop $500 on a Nexus 6P flagship, Galaxy S6, or the iPhone 6.
When the A9 launched at $399 In the United States, that was the time to pick one up, despite the insane backorder. The metal unibody frame is nicer than what you will find on the Nexus 5X.. But after a week, the price increased to $499, and that 25% jump in price means that the One A9’s value diminishes greatly. Now you compare it to the Nexus 6P, which many consider to be the best Android smartphone to date. No way HTC is winning that contest, even if simply for the fact that the Nexus device includes long-term assurance that you will get Android updates faster and for a longer period of time.

Crafted with the One’s iconic design, the HTC One (M8) for Windows features a wraparound unibody frame, tapered edges, and a curved back that feels perfect in the hand. The HTC UltraPixel camera is on back, along with a wide-angle front camera. The display is a 5-inch 1080p screen, and the whole thing runs Windows Phone 8.1.

We bring you our HTC One review, taking a look at the hardware of the device that many are calling the best to come out of HTC ever. The HTC One is an Android smartphone with the custom BlinkFeed homescreen, and the UltraPixel camera (according to HTC) that stands above the rest of the smartphone camera market. HTC Zoe features are built into the camera as well, bringing power and flexibility to the camer app on the software side. The unibody aluminum construction also stands out to make this a beautiful device, and Beats Audio keeps the sound pumping. We go over all of this and more in our HTC One video review in this episode of Bleeding Edge TV!

The HTC Thunderbolt is the world's first 4G LTE smartphone. It's available on Verizon Wireless in the US, and also acts as a 4G mobile hotspot, allowing you to connect up to 5 Wi-Fi devices to the 4G signal. It ships with Android 2.2, sports a 4.3-inch display, and even has a kickstand around back. In this video we give you a look at the Thunderbolt, perform a speed test, and also do a speed test comparison with an iPhone 4 on AT&T.
As you'll see, the device is ridiculously fast, especially when compared against an AT&T 3G smartphone like the iPhone 4. The screen looks great, and the phone feels good in your hand. If you're a Verizon Wireless customer, this is definitely one to consider, as long as you have a charger in the car and/or at the office, as this thing will eat through a battery like it's nothing. As we mentioned in our Windows Phone 7 review, Microsoft has given Mac users a way to sync their phones and Zune devices with their computers. Windows Phone 7 devices have no Zune client to sync with a Mac, which would have left Mac owners out in the cold. However, Microsoft is releasing the Windows Phone 7 Connector software for Mac, allowing Mac users to sync content from iTunes, iPhoto, and other areas of their Mac, directly to their Windows Phone 7 and Zune handhelds. Hey...it's better than nothing. We give you a look at how it all works in this episode.

The folks at HTC Smart Mobility have some new cell phones to talk about, such as the Verizon 5800, with its easy-to-use, layout and interface with QWERTY keyboard, perfect for both the corporate exec—and the soccer mom. And we loved the HTC Touch, HTC’s entry in the iPhone-killer wars. The Touch has a touch screen (duh), utilizes Windows Mobile 6, and has an interface with impressive 3D elements.
