On Gear Live: Xiaomi 17 Review: The Compact Flagship That Forgot to Act Small

Josh HendersonWell, I guess he’s a hottie if you’re a teenager. Or Paris Hilton. Josh Henderson, who plays Austin McCann on Desperate Housewives, has made an online plea to bring his character back. On March 3rd, he was told to leave Wisteria Lane by Orson, played by Kyle MacLachlan, after getting his step-daughter pregnant. Was this the end for Austin on the show? It would seem there would be more of this story to tell, as he also came to the realization that he loved Susan’s (Teri Hatcher) daughter, Julie. Who knows? The actor has been enjoying the privileged life, including being seen about town with Paris Hilton. Henderson said in a recent interview, “It was sad to leave the show, but I don’t believe Desperate Housewives fans have seen the last of me.” Here’s where the fans come in, accessing the “Save Austin” petition from Henderson’s MySpace page. The petition received thousands of virtual signatures and Henderson said of the site, “I spend up to two hours a day on correspondence. Hearing from fans on the Internet and being able to directly respond to the fan base is exciting.”

Gilmore Girls Cancellation Though rumor suggested that the CW, Warner Bros., and the Gilmore Girls would come to terms on a shortened eighth season of the hit show, sources are now saying talks have stopped completely. Insiders say that actresses Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel – the Gilmore Girls themselves – have not signed off on the offers proposed to each of them. Though the monetary amounts proposed were “very good,” neither actress has accepted a final amount. So far, it’s anyone’s guess whether the show will actually return or not…creating lots of speculation around the season (series?) finale scheduled for May 15, 2007.

Ryan Seacrest The banter between American Idol’s host and the show’s harshest judge has been a mainstay of the reality series – but for some fans, the cracks made between Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell might be a little too much. From cutting each other off to making innuendos about the other’s sexuality, the two of them always seem right at the edge of jumping down each other’s throats. Some fans find it confusing – do they like each other or not? – while others just find it obnoxious – why can’t they give it a rest? What is the deal with Seacrest and Cowell? Are they the bitter rivals that they seem…or is it all smoke and mirrors, affectations for our viewing pleasure?

Justin Timberlake Love his music or hate it, Justin Timberlake is huge. And he’s not going anywhere any time soon. Given his popularity, HBO has signed on with the “SexyBack” singer to do a special for his first solo concert this summer. Timberlake’s Madison Square Garden appearance on August 16 will be taped for the special. HBO’s Nancy Geller said, “Justin Timberlake is a dynamic performer, and we’re thrilled to welcome him back to HBO.” He was previously on the cable network for an ‘NSync special. She continued, “We’re especially excited that he’ll be creating unique new elements for the special that will make the show an even more memorable experience for our viewers.” Timberlake has been making the rounds, winning two Grammys, hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards, hosting over at Saturday Night Live and even taking on films like Alpha Dog and Black Snake Moan. He’ll next be heard in Shrek the Third.

Molly ShannonMolly Shannon was one of my favorite cast members on Saturday Night Live, so it’s nice to see her coming back to host the May 12th episode. I’m hoping we’ll see the return of Mary Katherine Gallagher too. I always marveled at how much Molly Shannon could flop around. You know she must have taken some bruising with that character! She can also be seen in the upcoming film, Year of the Dog, in which she plays a serious role. This is a side of Shannon that we haven’t seen before, and I’m really interested to see how she pulls it off. It’s always interesting to see a comedic actor like Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler take on the dark, serious character. Yahoo! News has a great interview, via The Associated Press about her upcoming hosting gig and the film. Check it out… also, this Sunday the documentary Saturday Night Live in the ‘90s will air at 9:00 on NBC.

VH1 logo Based on the success of VH1’s I Love New York, they’re planning on doing it all over again. To me, this show is painful to watch, but I suppose there’s a certain level of entertainment. Tiffany “New York” Pollard ended the first season by selecting Patrick “Tango” Hunter. He proposed to her on the finale, but later rescinded the offer on the reunion special. Isn’t that convenient? If she’s not engaged, and now she’s heartbroken that her top choice dumped her… well she has no choice but to pick a new suitor on a new season. Clever! Add to that the rumors that she and her mother are both actresses… well, I guess that actually doesn’t have much of an impact on a reality show, really. The new twist this go around is that five of the contestants will be selected by fans at ilovenewyork2.com. If you want to throw your hat into the ring, submit a video, bio and photos for consideration. Casting calls will also take place in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit, and Nashville.

MTV logo OK, so the are not one of my favorite awards programs. For one, I don’t even get to see music videos anymore because of all of the reality programming on the music networks. Whatever happened to the days when the music channels actually showed videos? Maybe I’m showing my age here, but when I was a kid (wow, don’t I sound old), there were videos on every hour of the day. Sigh. Those were the days. The VMA’s are trying to change things up a bit this year by making the celebration last all weekend—and filming the show at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas. The producers plan to use the entire property, moving away from the stale stage format that every other awards show employs. Will it make the show any more watchable? Eh, don’t count on me tuning in. If you’d like to check it out, it airs on September 9th.

Isaiah WashingtonAfter a pretty major slip up last year, Isaiah Washington is trying to get back in everyone’s good graces. If you recall, he called co-star T.R. Knight a certain unacceptable gay slur and ended up not being a very popular guy. He also acted jerky at the Golden Globes in January. Then again, despite the incidents, maybe he’s doing just fine. After all, he didn’t get fired from Grey’s Anatomy and his little episode didn’t hurt viewership any. He did attend some type of tolerance program, which was a weak PR move to make amends. GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation will be featuring Washington in upcoming public service announcements for the organization. According to GLAAD president Neil Giuliano, “Isaiah understands he is going to be judged by more than just his apology. He knows his future actions - including the genuine first step today’s meeting represents - will demonstrate his sincerity in becoming part of the solution to antigay bigotry. We welcome the opportunity to work with him in the coming months to help improve the cultural climate faced by LGBT people across this country.”

Bradley CooperWell that was fast. Or maybe not, by Hollywood’s standards. Newlyweds Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito have called it quits. If you’re keeping track, they’ve only been married for four months. TMZ.com has reported that the two filed for divorce today citing, you guessed it, irreconcilable differences. They got married in December, just two months after announcing their engagement. Couldn’t they figure out before they tied the knot that they were incompatible? Apparently they split sometime before filing for divorce, with Cooper’s rep saying, “Actually they’ve been separated for quite a while.” You may remember Esposito from Spin City and the Best Picture film Crash, as well as the series Related. Cooper was on Alias and (sadly) the short-lived series Kitchen Confidential.
