Taylor Swift isn’t just a big concert draw, the country music sensation is a ratings hit as well. Swift’s stint on CSI helped give the CBS program a nice boost on Thursday night. Unfortunately, that other musical hit (a.k.a. American Idol) was also around to do its thing.

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

ER: George Clooney won’t be the only cameo to keep an eye out for in the next few weeks. TV Guide reports that vet Sherry Stringfield (Dr. Susan Lewis) is now scheduled to make a return to County General as well. No details about her visit have been revealed.

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Gilmore Girls’ Alexis Bledel will be appearing in the April 2nd two-hour finale as Julia Wise, a new intern.

  • (7.1/19 in 18-49) raised 20.7 million viewers.
  • (12.3 million, 4.0/11) took a 1.4 million hit.
  • (6.8 million, 1.9/5) lost 900,000.
  • NBC’s Kung Fu Panda special (1.4/4) entertained 4 million; (3.4 million, 1.5/4) plummeted by 1.7 million.
  • * (2.1 million, 0.7/2) was down a few notches.

  • Kyle XY (ABC Family, 9pm):  “Kyle reluctantly starts working at Latnok to repay his debt, and it’s not at all what he expects. Yet he still wants to quit, until he considers the Tragers’ current financial situation.” Back up a second—someone’s hiring?
  • True Beauty (ABC, 10pm):  “Contestants walk the red carpet with their parents, but there are also several secret tests of manners going on.” In other words, pushing mom out of your spotlight would be inadvisable.

Thursday Ratings: ABC Remains Strong Against CBS

ABC’s crossover experiment paid off big time yesterday. Despite an all-new lineup on CBS (and the season premiere of Survivor), the Alphabet network finished the night with a win in the demos. CBS, though, did place first with the viewers.

  • (4.4/13 in 18-49) kicked things off with 13.8 million.
  • (7.4 million, 2.3/6) did about the same.
  • (6.3 million, 2.6/8) was up a smidge; (5.5 million, 2.4/6) picked up 800,000.
  • ‘s coverage of the 40th NAACP Image Awards (1.4/4) drew in 4.2 million.
  • * (2.4 million, 0.9/3) was off by 1.5 million.

  • Heroes (NBC, 9pm):  “The newly powerless Hiro resolves to help Ando become a true superhero.” Sorry, Suresh. You’re stuck with creating powers for yourself.
  • Medium (NBC, 10pm):  Season premiere. “Daughter Bridgette lands in trouble at school for drawing nude pictures of her art teacher.” She earned an “A” for technique, but an “F” for accuracy.
  • For the Love of Ray J (VH1, 10:30pm):  Series premiere. “The actor, singer-songwriter and brother of Brandy moves 14 beautiful women into his mansion and starts his search for love.” If can get a reality show, I guess her sex tape partner should get one too.
