FOX’s ‘Nashville’ Moved Off Schedule

NashvilleWell—we can’t exactly call it a cancellation at this point….so let’s just call it a slow death.

FOX’s new series, , is temporarily being set aside after just two airings.  The reality show (and I use ‘reality’ to describe this show like I would use it to describe Laguna Beach) followed a group of music industry hopefuls trying to make it big in Nashville.  Unfortunately, viewers weren’t following them

Refusing to admit they have the first fall flame-out, the network is simply putting the show on hold until ‘sometime’ in October.  Re-runs of will temporarily fill its time slot until two-hour episodes of take over on October 19th.

Ironically, some critics believe K-Ville may be the first show canceled this year.  If that’s the case—what will backup Nashville then?

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Forces Barry Manilow to Cancel

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows, ABC, Syndication,

Barry ManilowI’m not sure whether to consider this silly or hilarious…but I’m going with the latter.

Crooner Barry Manilow has apparently canceled a scheduled appearance on tomorrow’s episode of .  The reason?  A disagreement in politics.  The Copacabana singer told TMZ that he considers conservative to be ‘dangerous and offensive’.  Although he’s currently on a promotional tour, he is refusing to ‘share the same stage as her’ because of their differences in opinions.  It’s not clear why the gig was ever scheduled to begin with.

Any guess how long it will take to write a haiku about this?

More Vanessa Hudgens Photos Released

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Kids, Late Night, Music, Cable, NBC, Gossip,

Vanessa HudgensAs we reported earlier, canceled a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show yesterday.  While it was safe to assume she was still embarrassed about her infamous nudie pic, it turns out she may have been reacting to another round of photos altogether.

Former friends everywhere have been opening up their shoeboxes and sharing their favorite stills of the star.  The latest ones released yesterday, reminiscent of the racy photos took with , at least have her fully clothed this time.  One photo shows Vanessa almost connecting tongues with another girlfriend while a second apparently shows her touching a friend’s breast.

We can only hope was apprised of all her photos before they issued their (weak) statement of support; I don’t imagine they will stop coming out of the woodwork anytime soon.

NBC Looking for Success (Again) with The Donald

Donald TrumpNBC, the fourth-place station that’s willing to try anything to boost dismal ratings, will use celebs to tempt viewers into a new season of Trump’s The Apprentice. Rosie O’Donnell’s spokesperson has said Rosie will not be involved with the show – ever. The Apprentice will come back next year at mid-season with the winning celebrity donating their winnings to charity, instead of working for Trump. So, basically, it’s a huge waste of time for all parties, and just the latest terrible idea to come out of desperate-for-viewers NBC. The Apprentice was actually canceled…but seriously, what else has NBC got these days? So it’s back. And that’s that. Donald suggested extending the invitation to Rosie to join the cast, an idea that O’Donnell’s publicist shut down cold. Rosie is, however, in talks with NBC to consider doing another project. No celebs have yet been attached to this latest Apprentice project – yet, how could they resist the allure of appearing on the lowest-ranking network? Gee, I wonder how this new season of The Apprentice will do with fans.

First Casualities of the Fall Season?

Fox logoWhile not officially canceled, two shows have received the kiss of death—being put on hiatus. It seems pretty early in the season to pull the plug already, but Fox’s Happy Hour and Justice have already been put on “hiatus” status. Fox is saying that the comedy Happy Hour will return in November, citing the upcoming baseball playoffs and World Series as their reason for shelving the show, if only briefly. Until baseball takes over, Fox will be running a rerun of ‘Til Death during Happy Hour‘s Thursday time slot.

Justice will also take a break, with a repeat of House airing in its place on October 4th. The network will, however, be airing a repeat of Justice‘s pilot on Friday, September 29th at 8:00 p.m. This time will cut the finale of Celebrity Duets short by one hour.

Neither of these new shows really stood a chance against the competition (even though neither is officially canceled yet)—up against Survivor: Cook Island and The Office.
