The road to the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards officially kicked off early this morning. Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara (who received a nod) and Community‘s Joel McHale (who didn’t) were the ones who had the honor of reading this year’s list of nominees.
Although Mad Men - with 17 nominations - once again topped off all dramas, 30 Rock did
notlead the comedies. Glee did. The freshman FOX series raked in a total of 19 noms, only a handful short of the overall leader. (HBO’s miniseries, The Pacific, received 24 mentions.) 30 Rock did receive 15 nominations, though, while Modern Family followed closely behind with 14.
The August 29 ceremony - which NBC will air live on both the East and West coasts - will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. You can see a partial list of nominees after the jump.

VIDEO: Glee Spoilers and Gossip

When you think about it, Glee shouldn’t work. It’s a comedic musical television series (what?) featuring a bunch of
previously unknown actors and actresses from far-flung places like Broadway. With all the song numbers, dance numbers and witty one-liners, fans get a lot of laughs - but the show also, at times, gives views tears. So what makes this series so special?
Matthew Morrison, who plays inspirational glee club coach Will Schuester, expressed it beautifully in a recent interview. When asked about the series and its phenomenal appeal, Morrison said “music is the language that everyone speaks.”

Javier Bardem to Rock Glee’s World?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip,
UPDATE: Holmes’ rep says the rumor is not true. (Thank goodness.)
Even if Julia Roberts doesn’t make a guest appearance on Glee, there’s a very good chance another Oscar winner will.
According to Entertainment Weekly, one of Julia’s co-stars is reportedly scheduled to visit the FOX series next season. Javier Bardem, who also worked with creator Ryan Murphy when he directed Eat Pray Love, reportedly pitched the idea of a cameo.
So what will the No Country for Old Men star do on the comedy? “We’re going to rock the house,” Javier said about playing a rock star who becomes friends with the New Directions’ Artie (Kevin McHale). “We’re going to do some heavy metal — Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst.” (In the event you’re wondering about Bardem’s singing abilities, he was original supposedly to star in the film adaptation of Nine.)
Meanwhile, it’s being rumored that Katie Holmes has snagged a five-episode arc on the series as well. Holmes reportedly developed a relationship with Murphy after working with Dianna Agron on the upcoming film The Romantics.

American Idol Lowers Age Requirement, Announces Audition Dates
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol,

A new judge won’t be the only thing American Idol viewers see next year. Younger faces will also come included in Season 10’s package.
When auditions start up in three weeks, singers not even old enough to drive will be dropped off by their parents. That’s right - the contest will now be open to 15-year-olds. (Previous wannabes had to be at least 16 years of age.)
“A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16,” Idol‘s executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz explained about the rule change. “Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool.”

Glee Reality Show Nixed
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, Cancellations, Gossip, News, Video,
Months after announcing a Glee reality show which would depict the search for contestants on the series, FOX has released a new announcement saying the project has been nixed. Series creator Ryan Murphy doesn’t want to spread himself too thin, so he’ll continue to keep the bulk of his focus on Glee.
When the announcement for the Glee-centric reality series was made, would-be contestants were asked to post videos on MySpace. The show would detail the search to fill three roles on the series from a pool of contestants selected by the free-for-all submissions. Great idea, right? So, why is the whole thing in the can now?

If you aren’t familiar with Charice, the teen Filipino singing sensation, you will be soon. The young singer, 15, has landed a role on the FOX hit series Glee - and she’s definitely got the pipes to give even Lea Michele some serious vocal competition.
Check out the video above to see Charice’s stunning performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she wowed audiences with a big rendition of “
And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” Later, she performed “I Will Always Love You” with jaw-dropping confidence.
The trip to the talk show was Charice’s first visit to the United States, but we’re pretty sure she’s here to stay. Charice herself broke the news on Monday via Twitter with these words: “It’s official. I’m on Glee next season.”
If you aren’t prepared to be astounded, don’t watch the video.

Diddy Wants to Work for American Idol
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors,
Sean Diddy Combs wants to be the newest judge on American Idol - so much so that he’s offered to take a pay cut.
Combs has stated that he’ll work for less than what the show formerly paid Simon Cowell, who will no longer be a judge on the popular reality series.
“As a matter of fact I have a new negotiation,” Sean Combs told British TV station GMTV. “I would take a five percent cut on what [Simon Cowell] was getting. He was on something like $34 million, and that’s peanuts.”
But we bet it pays better than VH1, right Diddy?
