Preview Will Ferrell’s Appearance on Man vs. Wild

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Video,

UPDATE: Ferrell now says he did not drink his urine as previously reported, but does admit to sampling a little cornea.

I always knew was educational, but who knew it could also be funny?

On next week’s episode of the Discovery Channel show, actor Will Ferrell brings levity to what would probably be a miserable experience. The Land of the Lost star joins host Bear Grylls on a cold journey through an area far north of Sweden. During their travels, the two men will feast on reindeer eyeballs and chase that down with some nice bodily fluid.

Will FerrellLand of the Lost star will soon be lost on land.

To promote the upcoming release of his Universal Pictures pic, the comedian’s body is once again being being put to the test. Unfortunately in this case, it won’t entirely be for laughs.

In an June episode of , Ferrell will join host Bear Grylls in an area far north of Sweden where they will endure subzero temperatures. During their 48 hours together, the actor and the ex-Special Forces soldier have to create their own shelter, find food and navigate the region.

What can we expect to the see the former SNL star do? Well, he’ll be rappelling down frozen waterfalls, climbing trees and tandem-abseiling off a helicopter. Oh - he’ll also be eating reindeer eyeballs and drinking some of his own fluid.

Bat Hitches Ride on Discovery

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Science,

Discovery

A tiny bat was spotted on the space shuttle when it was launched Sunday. After studying the photo taken by collectSpace.com (shown in close up in the upper left,) NASA officials said that it may have had a broken wing and was holding on to Discovery’s external fuel tank. The Final Inspection Team even named him ‘Interim Problem Report 119V-0080.’ They were hoping that he would let go before liftoff, but that does not appear to be the case. Vaya con Dios, little bat.

When Mythbusters, Reality and NASA Mix

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Editorial,

MythBuster

Former special effects gurus-turned reality stars, the took on their biggest challenge yet for last night’s episode: the famed moon landing. For decades (specifically since 1969) people have persisted in believing the whole thing was a hoax.

Was it?

According to the episode’s opening dialogue, 20% of Americans to this day (well, perhaps not this day - but let’s say a week ago) persist in believing the well-publicized moon landing was actually faked. Many of what the show calls “conspiracy theorists” point to various evidence and say the entire thing was filmed not on the surface of the moon, but on a Hollywood set.

Some may scoff at this idea, but in a way it’s not farfetched. After all, hasn’t Hollywood faked everything from space invasions to true love? Really, is one little moon landing so hard to re-create?
