Fisker Karma Review: A disappointing tale from Consumer Reports

The Fisker Karma was one the electric cars we hoped would have led the pack in design. Instead, it seems to be an example of what not to do. The guys over at Consumer Reports bought the EV for testing and they weren't able to get very far.

The Karma only made it 2,000 miles before breaking down. With a little more research, they found out that other owners had similar, if not more horrific experiences. There have been reports of differentials going out at 1,000 miles, cars stalling out while doing 35 MPH, and trouble with shifting. Obviously, these are issues a new car should not have, let alone a car that cost over six figures.

Zynga acquires OMGPOP, picks up Draw Something and other social games

For those on the go, iPhone and Android smartphones have been a lifesaver for mobile entertainment and keeping in contact with friends on the go. Once in a while, an app comes along that even uses your social network as the basis for an entertainment experience with something so addicting that even its competitors are threatened by it.

We’re taking about the game Draw Something, made by OMGPOP. It climbed its way to the top of the App Store and Android App Market and stayed there, out growing Zynga’s Words with Friends in popularity. Zynga wasn’t having any of this, so only one option remained—Zynga acquired Draw Something for a rumored $180 million, plus another $30 million for employee retention payouts, in an insanely smart move. Zynga is also acquiring a portfolio of over 35 social games aside from Draw Something, and the takeover is effective immediately. Current OMGPOP CEO Dan Porter is now Vice President and General Manager of Zynga New York.

Amish driver gone wild in New York country road

Most of us can remember the day that we were given freedom by our parents. The world was in our hands and the possibilities were endless, right? Now, we all know the Amish for shunning the use of mass electricity, TVs, and other everyday technologies we’ve come to love, but for a brief time in an Amish person’s life, they’re given the freedom to experience life as we know it.

Now you’re probably thinking, "What's the worst that can happen when Amish are on the loose?" Well, lets just say it can bring a party to a crashing end.

Last Sunday, in Sherman, NY, police responded to an alleged “buggy party.” On route to responding to the call, a buggy abruptly switched lanes and hit the patrol car, then flipped, injuring one of the four passengers. Furthermore, police reported the buggy was filled with beer. To complicate the matter more, the driver, 20 years old, was the host of the party.

When police finally arrived, they observed buggies fleeing the scene. Oh, how we wish we could see this on next installment of TruTv’s World’s Dumbest Drivers.

The Internet is ablaze this week as more and more information about the Irrational Games upcoming release Bioshock Infinite is coming out. We now have 3 exclusive preview trailers released as of today, and we are sure to see more on the way. Irrational Games has named each trailer after the specific object in the game. Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ make it down the assembly line

Video: Colin Furze modifies a mobility scooter to hit 70 MPH

There are many things that you can build up and modify to make them go faster. Most people that want to do this sort of thing buy an old Ford or Chevy as their project cars to work on during the summer. Colin Furze isn’t like most people. Rather than focusing on a car, Colin took your average mobility scooter, dropped a 125cc motor into it, and took it out on a snow packed road to hit 70 MPH. Oh and everything on the scooter is stock, with the exception of the motor. It's an awesome project, the results of which you can see in the video above!

Hands-on with New Rdio redesign: More social, much faster

Last week at a press event in Austin at SXSW, Rdio gave us a look at its brand new, completely overhauled music experience. We got a look at the new Rdio, and we walked away impressed by the beauty of what the streaming music company is attempting to pull off. There are a lot of changes, and we think that most people will think they're all good.

New Rdio isn't just a visual makeover though. Wilson Miner, head of design for Rdio said, "We want back to ground zero and rethought the whole user experience from the groud up to put the focus 100% on music and people." That people part is a big deal, because social integration is a big part of the new Rdio. When you log in, you've got a constant bar on the right-hand side that shows your online contacts and what they're listening to. There's also another tab that gives recommendations of who to follow (oh, and you should definitely follow the Gear Live Rdio profile!) Wanna share a track or album with a contact? The old way still works, but now you can just drag and drop content onto contacts as well. Very fluid.

Translogic interviews The Jetman about his flying suit

The dream of personal flight has always been knocking at transportation's door, but never has it had the right sales pitch. Now, over in the Bex, Switzerland, Translogic had the opportunity to interview Yves Rossy, the Jetman. This guy isn't your average adrenaline junky--he's more of a visionary. His plan is to one day build an Iron Man-like suit for personal flight. We know, keep dreaming, right? Yeah, that project is nowhere near complete, but it takes research and development for big ideas to come to fruition. For now, the Jetman is busy perfecting his personal jetwing. Check out the video above for what one day could be sharing garage space with your car.

Brake-testing the SuperBus in the snow

We all know metro buses to be fairly dull and boring, but a group of student engineers from Holland figured that this isn't how buses have to be. From there, the SuperBus concept was born. Although the SuperBus does not follow a set route, you can send it a text message with your location, and it’ll come pick you up. The bus runs on electricity, features 16 gullwing doors, and is set to run about 155 miles before charging is needed.

So what do you do when it snows in the Netherlands? Whip the SuperBus out and conduct more testing! Check the video out after the jump.

Ferrari set to preview Enzo replacement at the end of the year

If you find yourself to be one of the lucky owners of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, you should be enjoying the fast lane with a huge grin on your face. Who else on the road can complete with you, achieve 0-62 in a little over 3 seconds. But as all good things come to an end, your days are numbered too.

Ferrari announced that it will soon be replacing the Enzo with something mind blowing, as usual. So what does that mean for you, who possibly just purchased a F12 Berlinetta? Well, you’ll be downgraded to the slow lane, as Ferrari is planning on releasing a street legal F-1 power status, streetcar. Ferrari will be giving previews of the supercar to potential buyers by the end of the year. The public will be graced with its presence most likely at the Detroit Motor Show or Geneva Motor Show in March.

And if you’re wondering about the price, Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo says, “We want to surprise people not just in terms of price but also with the car itself.” So that means free, right?
