VIDEO: Miley Cyrus Performs Nirvana in Concert
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Concerts / Tours, Performances, Videos, Alternative, Covers, Rock,
Miley Cyrus delighted her concert-going fans when she announced during her Ecuador show that she’d be doing a special song. “I want to be able to do the music that inspired me and made me want to be here on this stage tonight,” she announced.
“This song is something I always sing with my little brother… so this song is also for him.” And the crowd went wild, screaming with hysteria in anticipation of…perhaps some light country music fare? Maybe something from Miley’s childhood (such as it was), a ditty from the Jewel or Sheryl Crow songbook? Or perhaps a country standard by a legend like Patsy Cline?
Nope. Miley’s band began playing the opening strains of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” instead, a grunge rock anthem that was released in 1991, one year before Cyrus was born. Watch the performance in the video above.

From what we’re hearing and seeing in the music video, it all came together in the end.

Aerosmith: New Album on the Way
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Artist News, Gossip, Reunions, Upcoming Releases, Rock,
The feud between Steven Tyler and Joe Perry is over. Along with the other members of Aerosmith, the rockers will get to work on a new album this summer.
According to Tyler, he and Perry smoked a “peace pipe” to at last bury the hatchet. Reportedly, the rift began when Tyler accepted his current American Idol judging gig.
But Aerosmith isn’t going to question a good thing anymore. Since Steven Tyler started appearing on the new season of the reality gorilla, sales of the band’s greatest hits have increased 250%.

It’s starting to get ugly between Glee writer/co-creator Ryan Murphy and Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill, and all because of “Use Somebody.”
The band famously turned Glee down when the show requested to use the song.
Murphy responded to the Kings of Leon snub in the midst of a lengthy Hollywood Reporter article, saying “[expletive deleted] you, Kings of Leon.” He went on to say, “Okay, hate on arts education” and a few other choice statements.
Nathan Followill fired off an angry Twitter tirade telling Murphy to “let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra.” He jumped back on his page two hours later to offer an apology: “I’m sorry 4 anyone that misconstrued my comments as homophobic or mysoginistic [sic]. I’m so not that kind of person. I really do apologize.”

Hollywood actor Jack Black and musical partner Kyle Gass have announced plans for a new Tenacious D record.
"We're gonna be talking about love. There's gonna be some songs about sex and there's gonna be songs about food," Black said. "We're in the middle of recording it. We're about halfway through the writing process. We need another few months. But you can look for it at the end of 2011."
The last release by the group was the soundtrack to their film Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny. That 2006 movie was a hit with fans, but did poorly at the box office.
Although the Gulliver's Travels' star doesn't foresee a movie to accompany the group's third record, Black hasn't ruled out another Tenacious D film.
Jack, 41, told website Spinner: "This is strictly a musical endeavour, but I would not rule out another film. Although it would probably be on the lower-budget."

Despite, or because of, the fact that Ozzy Osbourne spent several years on The Osbournes, the musician feels he can dish out advice about one particular subject: overexposure.
Osbourne, who has had more than his share of media attention, said there's one particular star who might want to step away from the spotlight:
I do think Lady Gaga should take a break for a little while. She's getting to be too much, and she doesn't watch the exposure of her clothes. She's just too overexposed. She could be the next Madonna if she played her cards right. I like her, but I'm getting a bit sick of her. When I turn on the TV, I see her wearing another lamp shade or whatever. She needs to take a break, I think, for an hour or so. I love her, I think she's really, really entertaining, but she's doing a bit too much. Every day it is something else. The specialness of her is gonna get killed if she doesn't calm it down. Who manages her? Someone should whisper in her ear and say back off for a couple of months -- let people gain interest back. Let people want you, you know?
What do you think of Ozzy's comments? Do you agree with his observations ... or do you think he's being a bit hypocritical?

Paul McCartney Plays Tribute to John Lennon on SNL
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Performances, Videos, Rock,
Sir Paul McCartney helped to create one of SNL’s most memorable episodes over the weekend.
In-between appearing in skits, McCartney took to the stage no less than four times to perform several hits -- but the most poignant was definitely when he honored former bandmate and collaborator John Lennon. This year marks the 30th since the rocker’s death, and McCartney played tribute by playing “A Day in the Life” and Lennon’s own “Give Peace a Chance.”
Watch (and listen!) in the video above.
