BlackBerry Z10 10.0.10.85

Today BlackBerry announced the release of the BlackBerry 10 software update 10.0.10.85, and with it comes a bunch of improvements that users of the BlackBerry Z10 have been asking for. For starters, third party application performance has been improved, as many were sluggish. Importing calendars and contacts gets some attention too, as does the camera, which now takes better photos in low-light situations. The Z10 web browser receives optimizations for viewing videos embedded into Web sites, and lastly, there are over 60 improvements made that go into extending the life of the battery. You'll definitely wanna grab this update if you're a Z10 user. To get it, just head to Settings on the device, select Software Updates, and then Check for Updates and follow the onscreen instructions. The update is about 150 MB, so you'll probably wanna make sure you're on Wi-Fi for this one.

Amazon Kindle 2: Now with PDF support, 85% more battery life

Amazon Kindle 2

In what we are guessing is an attempt to make the a bit more attractive when compared to the B&N , Amazon announced today that the Kindle 2 now ships with PDF support and a battery that lasts almost twice as long as previous Kindle 2s. The battery bump, in particular, gives you 7 days of use with wireless on as opposed to 4.

Even cooler, though, is the fact that if you already own a Kindle 2, there will be a firmware update released over-the-air that will give you the same functionality, including the 85% increase in battery life! No date has been announced for the release of that update, but we’d be surprised if it didn’t arrive any day now. Gotta love competition. You can pick up the Kindle 2 on Amazon.

Evoia Robot Toy Breaks Battery Record

The toy robot, Evoia, that you see in the picture here has actually broken two Guinness World Records.  The first was its climb of the Grand Canyon, and the other is the “longest distance covered by a battery-operated remote controlled model car”.

Yes, you can watch the YouTube video below of Evoia trailing a car going 0.6 miles per hour on the historic Le Mans race track.  It traveled for 24 hours, covering 14.82 miles, on just two EVOLTA AA alkaline batteries.

I’ll be Evoia is feeling good about itself, and I’m sure the Energizer Bunny wants to kill him.

PlayStation Portable redesign box

I’m going to come right out and say it: I’m coming away from Sony’s presentation more impressed than I was either Nintendo’s or Microsoft’s. They were very straightforward and showed exactly what we all wanted to see: the games.

In fact, this was one of the more impressive E3 press conferences in recent memory – check inside to find out why.
