Broken Marriages and Relationships
Posted by Ashley Drapkin Categories: Advice, Editorials, Marriage, Relationships,
Lately when I look around me, marriages and relationships fall apart. Whether people get married for the right reasons or the wrong, people are too quick to end their marriage when it gets too hard for them to handle because getting divorces are extremely easy.
Relationships fall apart because no one knows how to be faithful anymore nor do they know how to be committed. It’s pretty sad because any relationship I see someone has cheated or both have cheated. I know cheating may happen, but when it happens more then once, obviously you shouldn’t be with that person and should probably break up before it causes more hurt then happiness
Honestly when I look at the relationships and marriages around me, it makes me not want to ever get married or get in a relationship, but then I see how happy my parents are after being married for 35 years and altogether 40 years. They are still completely in love it makes me sick—not literally. I also look at my sister and my brother-in-law who have been together for seven years I believe they are still in love. I have hope when I look at them, but I still have a hard time trusting anyone because I have seen what goes on in my friends relationships with cheating, and honestly I am not so sure I will ever be able to trust anyone.

What’s Your Locker-Room Body Image?
Posted by Katie Gutierrez Painter Categories: Advice, Celebrities, Editorials, Entertainment, Health,
Shortly before I got married last May, my amazing mom—who knew I’d been wanting to get back in shape—gifted me 20 half-hour sessions with a personal trainer. Fast forward five months. I received a call from 24 Hour Fitness; it seemed they checked their records and I still had 18 of my 20 sessions remaining. (Oops.) Did I want to come in and use them? Damn, I thought. But my summer of blissful post-wedding eating had taken a toll—ten pounds, to be exact—on my figure. I’ve always been pretty small, so that increase made a major difference in the way my clothes fit and the way I thought about my own body. So I said grudgingly, “Okay. I’ll go in tomorrow.”
Since then, several things have happened, all amazing in their own right. (1) I weigh the exact same as I did in September… but my body fat has dropped by 6%. I’ve gone from the “Acceptable” to the “Lean” range! (2) I’ve committed to participating in a triathlon in May… How did that happen? (3) I renewed my training sessions—twice—and am now in another class three days a week to prepare for the triathlon. All in all, I’m working out seven days per week—crazy! (4) I can do awesome man-pushups, and I feel strong and powerful. (5) My skin is clearer… a happy surprise, to be sure!
Of course, to be fair, half my pants still don’t fit, and I’ve been sore every day for, oh, five months.

Stars Promoting Products
Posted by Colleen McKie Categories: Celebrities, Editorials, Entertainment, Humor,

Okay, I understand why celebrities promote different products. I mean, being a superstar doesn’t pay all that much, so they have to supplement their income somehow, right? But I think it’s kind of obnoxious for them to think that just because they hold up a can of Pepsi for 30 seconds I’m going to go out and buy it.
Athletes that do product endorsements most likely use the sneaker they are hawking, but honestly do you think that Kelly Ripa does her own laundry? In all fairness, there is a possibility that she does; afterall, the woman has the stamina of the Energizer Bunny. But, I know if I had her income and Mark Consuelos as my husband, I would not be spending ANY time in the laundry room.
It seems that I can’t turn the TV on without some beautiful singer/actor telling me I could be gorgeous and stress free if I only used this mascara or that foundation. And you know what? It ticks me off to no end. How do I know that they actually use these products? I can’t picture Queen Latifah walking into her local Target to pick up the latest Maybelline lipstick.
And don’t even get me going on the numerous long maned sirens touting their “favorite” hair dye. Am I supposed to believe that Eva Longoria or Penelope Cruz sit at home on a Saturday night in a ratty old T-shirt and sweat pants, waiting the required 10 or 20 minutes praying that they don’t get any dye on the couch or the phone? No freakin’ way. You want me to buy your hair dye because it looks so gorgeous on Eva? Then go to her house and tape her dying her own hair. My bet is her luscious locks are courtesy of Antoine or Serge at L.A. High Priced Hair Cuts.
