When I associate celebrities with vodka, I usually think about Sean Combs talking non-stop about Ciroc on Twitter. I hear Donald Trump promoting Trump Vodka, despite the fact he doesn’t drink. I envision Dan Akyroyd pouring the liquid from a Crystal Head skull.

But do I ever think of ? Well, I didn’t…until now.

Conan O'Brien

Conan O’Brien’s surprise Emmy nominations this morning for his work on The Tonight Show prompted NBC to issue a

forced classy half-ass

unexpected statement about their former employee.

The network, which did not see a Jay Leno mention, wrote: “We congratulate Conan and all our nominees on their creative accomplishments and their deserved nominations.”

Conan - who saw his old program receive four noms including one for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series - also delivered his own comment via Twitter. “Congrats to my staff on 4 Emmy nominations. This bodes well for the future of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” he wrote.

The fans, producers and cast of should be singing with joy today.

The most talked-about new show of the year has landed a staggering , including Best Comedy Series, Best Actor (Matthew Morrison), Best Actress (Lea Michele), Best Supporting Actress (Jane Lynch) and Best Supporting Actor (Chris Colfer).

Neil Patrick Harris also got a nod for his guest spot in the “Dream On” episode, while Kristin Chenoweth received a nomination for her guest spot in the “Rhodes Not Taken” episode. Other nods fall in the casting, writing and art direction categories.

Although he’s already made it known that he’s leaving 30 Rock when his contract expires in 2012, now reveals that he wants to leave acting entirely—to pursue a more private, tabloid-free life.

“As much as I like acting I know that I would love to have a different life. A private life ... I think that doing this now for a living has become really, really hard. I would rather go do other things, and [with] whatever amount of time I have left in my life, have a normal life.”

When the interviewer points out that it may be impossible to do considering his current fame, Baldwin says, “I want to find out how close I can get.”

The road to the officially kicked off early this morning. Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara (who received a nod) and Community‘s Joel McHale (who didn’t) were the ones who had the honor of reading this year’s list of nominees.

Although - with 17 nominations - once again topped off all dramas, 30 Rock did

not

lead the comedies. did. The freshman FOX series raked in a total of 19 noms, only a handful short of the overall leader. (HBO’s miniseries, The Pacific, received 24 mentions.) 30 Rock did receive 15 nominations, though, while Modern Family followed closely behind with 14.

The August 29 ceremony - which NBC will air live on both the East and West coasts - will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. You can see a partial list of nominees after the jump.

When you think about it, shouldn’t work. It’s a comedic musical television series (what?) featuring a bunch of

relatively

previously unknown actors and actresses from far-flung places like Broadway. With all the song numbers, dance numbers and witty one-liners, fans get a lot of laughs - but the show also, at times, gives views tears. So what makes this series so special?

, who plays inspirational glee club coach Will Schuester, expressed it beautifully in a recent interview. When asked about the series and its phenomenal appeal, Morrison said “music is the language that everyone speaks.”
