Quote of the Day: Ricky Gervais on Carell’s Office Departure
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, NBC, The Office, News,

“Well it’s official. Steve Carell will leave The Office after this next season. It was of course inevitable (and sad), but I wish him all the luck in the world. He is quite possibly the nicest, hardest working man in America and it has been a joy working with him over the last six years. (And taking the piss out of him at every award show.) It was expected of me, as executive producer, to persuade him to stay on. With syndication in full swing the more successful the show remains, the more billions we all make. It was tempting, but the truth is, I believe he is doing the right thing. He’s fulfilled his contract and more, and is a huge film star now. (I knocked it on the head after 12 episodes and a Christmas special.) I’d be lying if I said he should do more. He shouldn’t. He should move on, continue to do great work, and buy a new house every time The Office is repeated somewhere. (That’s what I do. Maybe I’ll buy one next door to him one day. That’ll f**king teach him.)”
-Ricky Gervais, star of the the original version of The Office, blogging about Steve Carell’s upcoming exit from the U.S. version.

TV Talk: Alterations for Price of Beauty, Ratings Drops for Late Night Programs

-How apropos. Jessica Simpson’s The Price of Beauty will need to undergo alterations before returning. A new season will likely focus more on makeovers and less on travel.
-Will Celebrity Rehab net a former tennis star? The reality series is reportedly interested in nabbing Jennifer Capriati, who was hospitalized for an accidental drug overdose last month.
-The summer has not been kind to Jay Leno or David Letterman. The Tonight Show recently had its smallest audience since 1992. The Late Show had its lowest since 1993.
-Speaking of late night, TLC is about to introduce a new program titled Strange Sex. The six-part series profiling “mysterious conditions, unusual fetishes and the kinky science behind sexual attraction” debuts July 18.

The ladies of Hot in Cleveland made this in-character announcement to Cleveland Cavalier Lebron James, whose fate in the industry is currently undetermined. (Lebron decided to go free agent this season, leaving the basketball community in a frenzy.)
In an effort to keep the star in the city, Valerie Bertinelli (Melanie Moretti), Wendie Malick (Victoria Chase), Jane Leeves (Joy Scroggs) and Betty White (Elka Ostrovsky) made this hilarious video clip. Is Betty White’s final promise enough to keep the King of the court in Ohio?

Javier Bardem to Rock Glee’s World?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip,
UPDATE: Holmes’ rep says the rumor is not true. (Thank goodness.)
Even if Julia Roberts doesn’t make a guest appearance on Glee, there’s a very good chance another Oscar winner will.
According to Entertainment Weekly, one of Julia’s co-stars is reportedly scheduled to visit the FOX series next season. Javier Bardem, who also worked with creator Ryan Murphy when he directed Eat Pray Love, reportedly pitched the idea of a cameo.
So what will the No Country for Old Men star do on the comedy? “We’re going to rock the house,” Javier said about playing a rock star who becomes friends with the New Directions’ Artie (Kevin McHale). “We’re going to do some heavy metal — Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst.” (In the event you’re wondering about Bardem’s singing abilities, he was original supposedly to star in the film adaptation of Nine.)
Meanwhile, it’s being rumored that Katie Holmes has snagged a five-episode arc on the series as well. Holmes reportedly developed a relationship with Murphy after working with Dianna Agron on the upcoming film The Romantics.

MONDAY (7/5)
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 8pm): “Ali questions some of the bachelors’ sincerity. Indeed, two of them seem to be as focused on each other as they are on her.” Well, they did they say they came there looking for love.
- The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm): “Amy runs into Bristol Palin in her dorm, and soon she realizes the music program is for teen moms.” Palin clearly wasn’t accepted into the program for her actual talent.

VIDEO: True Blood’s Sam Trammell on His Scene with Moyer
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, HBO, Video,
If you’re a follower of True Blood, the phrase “Sam Merlotte and Bill Compton” would probably bring one particular scene to mind. A pretty hot scene from Season 2 that only involved those two men.
In this recent interview with Chelsea Handler, actor Sam Trammell (Merlotte) - who says he “loved” shooting that moment with Stephen Moyer - recalls a funny joke they played on the poor stand-ins involved with the filming.
Cue the video to the 2:00 mark for the story.

Preview Season 2 of Jersey Shore
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, MTV, Video,
Since I stopped watching the Real World back around the time MTV made its first trip to New Orleans, I really can’t speak about the program anymore. That said, I have a feeling a new version of Real World: Miami would probably look something like this.
When Jersey Shore returns on July 29, the orange-hued cast members will be taking their antics to an entirely new location. What do the “grenades” of Miami Beach have in store in for them? Preview Season 2’s “GTL” action here.
