The Office Hey, reruns are a fact of television life—unless the show takes a major break (we’re looking at you Lost), you are bound to see some repeats on the tube. Never fear, The Office is about to bring you something extraordinary—a new and improved take on the repeat. Dubbed the “newpeat,” The Office will be reairing this season’s episodes with a twist. Two of the reruns will air on March 15th, but will include unaired scenes. Ta-da! A brand new viewing experience! The episodes are “Traveling Salesman” and “The Return.” “It’s about giving something extra to our wonderful fans,” said executive producer Greg Daniels. “Their loyalty must be rewarded somehow, and we don’t have the budget for 10 million muffin baskets.” No doubt this experiment will be a fun one for the fans. Count me among the many excited Office buffs who is looking forward to seeing the deleted scenes. Heck, I’d watch it again even if it wasn’t a newpeat! But wait, there’s more! Description American Idol and scandal have been friends for a long time. The second season of the show alone was rife with media stories, from Studdard’s law suits to Abdul’s affair, to one contestant’s cups that ranneth over. Plenty of Idol fans still remember the day Frenchie Davis was unceremoniously booted from the show because of topless photos. After leaving reality TV, Frenchie went on to find Broadway success. But she hasn’t forgotten her brush with TV fame and shame.

A recent article from the Associated Press brought Frenchie back into the television limelight, when the Broadway star stated that she would like to receive a public apology from American Idol. But that’s not all she wants, according to the article. Frenchie stated that she was humiliated by the show, and thinks that an apology would be “a great start.” The reason all of this is surfacing again, four years later? Her name is Antonella Barba, and despite performances that have been routinely called “pitchy” and photos some might think of as “porn,” she keeps hanging around the Idol contestant pool.

Anna Nicole Smith kisses son Daniel Medical Examiner Joshua Perper, of Broward County, signed Anna Nicole Smith’s cause of death as “pending” on her official death certificate last Wednesday. Yesterday, one week after the certificate was signed, Perper announced that a cause of death has been officially determined. Smith, 39, was found unconscious and unresponsive in her Florida hotel room on February 8, 2007. Hours later, Smith was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the Memorial Regional Hospital. One month later, at least one man finally knows some of the answers to the many questions Anna’s untimely death has raised.

But he isn’t going to tell, at least not yet. In fact, it could take weeks for the cause of death of Anna Nicole Smith to be made public, according to Perper. For now, the Medical Examiner’s office is waiting until the official police investigation is over before those results are released. The Florida police are out in full force investigating the details of the case, but reports say it could still take several more weeks before anything conclusive is determined. Until then, the cause of Anna’s death will remain a mystery to the rest of us.

Lane Garrison Well, here’s one actor that’s certain to have an E! Boulevard of Broken Dreams special. Lane Garrison, who had a glimpse of the spotlight when he played Tweener on Prison Break, has been charged with manslaughter, driving under the influence, and providing alcohol to a minor. In this case, life is imitating art, since Garrison has already played the make-believe role of inmate. Garrison was involved in a car crash that injured two 15-year-old girls and killed a 17-year-old boy in December. Today, Garrison was charged with vehicular manslaughter. If convicted, Garrison could have over six years of prison time ahead of him. According to his lawyer, Garrison was invited to a party by the teenagers and crashed his car into a tree on the way to there. His blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit for California.

Jeffrey TamborAfter a failed sitcom last season with John Lithgow, Jeffrey Tambor will be returning with a new pilot. It’s a pretty safe bet that this one has got to be better than 20 Good Years. But sadly, may never match the brilliance of Arrested Development or The Larry Sanders Show—both of which Tambor played large roles in. The new series, called The Captain, stars Tambor as a retired TV writer living in Hollywood. The series’ name comes from the name of the apartment building, El Capitan. Here’s hoping that this series has the goods because Tambor is one funny guy, given the right role. Ahh, this has me missing Arrested Development all over again. Sniffle.

In other casting news, Oscar winner Marisa Tomei will star in the CBS comedy The Rich Inner Life of Penelope Cloud. She plays an author who experiences writer’s block until she tries to recapture her youthful optimism.

Star Jones Star Jones Reynolds is back baby. No longer tethered by Barbara Walters and her brand of bull, Star is running the show this time. Reynolds will host a talk show of sorts on Court TV, specializing in criminal justice and pop culture. Huh? Well, we’ll have to find out what that’s all about in the fall, when the show will debut. No details on the show’s title just yet. Reynolds has some experience in this area, having started her career as a lawyer and then as a legal commentator for Court TV in the early 90s. Her job as co-host of The View began in 1997, and well, you know how it all went down—after her contract wasn’t renewed last summer, she announced on the show that she would be leaving, making Barbara very grumpy. That was Star’s last appearance on The View. Of her new show, Star commented, “This is the perfect time in our culture to see how the law, politics and entertainment come together. Some people say it has been on a collision. I say it has been connected.”

Daly will appear in the upcoming two-hour Grey’s Anatomy episode that is expected to launch a spinoff featuring Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh). Also on board for the new series is Paul Adelstein, who plays Secret Service Special Agent Paul Kellerman on Prison Break. What’s that mean for Prison Break fans? Is the writing on the wall for Agent Kellerman? That’s another story, I suppose. Adlestein did appear in the pilot episode of Grey’s. Sexy Taye Diggs has already signed on for the episode and potential new series. The two-hour extravaganza will put Addison in a position that may have her leaving Seattle Grace.
