Who knew Jeopardy could be so exciting, right? Three contestants all finished with the exact same dollar amount after the Final Jeopardy question on Friday’s show—$16,000. The tie marks a first for the long-running game show, and Alex Trebek’s glee over the event could barely be contained. The category was “Women of the 1930s” and all three contestants answered Bonnie Parker. “We’ve had a lot of crazy things happen on Jeopardy! but in 23 years I’ve never seen anything like this before,” Trebek said. To prove just how crazy this occurrence is, Jeopardy contacted a mathematician and discovered that the chances of a three-way tie is one in 25 million. Since all three men tied, they were all announced as winners and competed again on the show, which will air today.

Dancing With the Stars Kicks Off Tonight
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars,
Don’t forget—the fourth season of Dancing With the Stars begins tonight. Place your bets… who’s going to go the distance, and will dancer Cheryl Burke add a third trophy to her case? Burke won the last two competitions with partners Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith, but doesn’t feel the pressure to win this time. Burke told People magazine, “It’s about who I’m dancing with and making my partner the best dancer he can possibly be.” Or maybe it’s because the trophy is a hunk of junk. She also told the magazine, “Both [trophies] are falling to pieces, by the way. The mirrors are slowly falling off.” Check out the competition tonight, when she and partner Ian Ziering take to the dance floor. Filling out the cast are Heather Mills, Billy Ray Cyrus, Joey Fatone, Apolo Anton Ohno, Laila Ali, Clyde Drexler, John Ratzenberger, Shandi Finnessey, Leeza Gibbons and Paulina Porizkova.

America’s Next Top Model: Cycle 8: The Girl Who Cries All The Time
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, The CW, Features,
The girls settle back at home after Samantha’s elimination. Diana and Whitney bond over being the only two plus-sized girls around. It’s a unique struggle having to worry about all the ‘sample-sizes’ that are available at the photo shoots. Meanwhile, Jaslene finally seems to have found a sympathetic ear in good-natured Cassandra.
The girls later receive some Tyra mail alerting them to another ‘cut’ the next day. Followers of ANTM know what that means: Model Makeover!! As we have learned from previous seasons, this can unfortunately be a hit or miss day. While the average woman would relish the opportunity to have an expert redo them, (aspiring) models are a rare breed. Some girls always think they know better. But of course as we all know, if they
didknow better…they’d already be models. Right?

Yet Another Flavor of Love Spinoff
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Reality, Cable, Cable/Satellite,
For those of you hanging in there on VH1’s Flavor of Love spinoff, I Love New York—you’re stronger than I am. I stumble across this show from time to time, but can’t commit. And, as if one spinoff of Flav’s show isn’t enough, there’s yet another on the horizon. This time around, Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School will have 13 of Flav’s cast-offs attending (you guessed it) charm school. Mo’Nique is on board for hosting duties, putting the girls through their paces to learn proper etiquette to become well-mannered, respectable women. What’s to keep the girls in the competition, besides being on television? The grand prize is $50,000. Check in out on April 15th at 10 p.m. No doubt it will be a ratings winner like Flavor of Love and I Love New York.

‘Brothers & Sisters’ Welcomes Guest Stars From ‘Dharma & Greg’
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC,
I don’t think I’m alone when I say that I absolutely adore the show Brothers & Sisters. Great cast, great storylines, great Rob Lowe… well, you know what I mean. Anyway, time to bring in some guest stars to liven things up. Be on the lookout for former Dharma & Greg cast members Jenna Elfman and Susan Sullivan to make an appearance. Elfman played kooky earth-child Dharma to Sullivan’s uptight socialite, Kitty Montgomery. This time around, they’ll be playing mother and daughter rivals of the Walker clan. Sullivan plays Miranda Jones, while Elfman is a pregnant Lizzie Jones-Baker. The fun is underway when they take part in a rematch of a family game night, complete with new step-sis Rebecca. The episode will air April 15th.

David Duchovny Comes to Showtime
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, Cable, Showtime, Cable/Satellite,
I used to be the biggest David Duchovny fan—you know, when I could get my weekly dose of him on The X-Files. Now that he’s not on my TV every week, my adoration for him has faded slightly, but I’ve still got love for Duchov. Plus, you can always hear his voiceover work on that Pedigree commercial. His voice is so smooth. The great news is that he’ll once again be hitting the small screen, and this time it’s a comedy. Duchovny has more than his fair share of charm and wit, so I think he’ll be well-suited for a television comedy. Problem for me is that it’s on Showtime, which I don’t currently have. But, come August, when the show is expected to debut, I’ll be calling the cable company to get on board. The show is still untitled but Showtime has ordered 12 episodes. Duchovny will play a novelist raising his 13-year-old daughter and still pining for his ex-girlfriend. Co-stars include Natascha McElhone (The Truman Show) and Evan Handler (Sex and the City). Showtime President of Entertainment, Robert Greenblatt, commented that “anyone expecting Agent Mulder to resurface will be pleasantly surprised to see David create a character who is deeply flawed yet funny, complicated, and utterly human.” Definitely worth a look.

‘The Riches’ off to a Good Start on FX
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, Cable, Cable/Satellite, Ratings,
The Riches premiered on Monday on FX and the viewership was great. I am eager to see this show, but somehow my dedication to What About Brian forced me to DVR The Riches and watch Brian instead. Boy, did I choose poorly. I could have used a taste of something new, rather than the same old thing on Brian. But that show is a whole other discussion. On to The Riches, starring big fave of mine Eddie Izzard and the talented Minnie Driver. Here’s the thing—I wasn’t sure how this was going to be received. Fans of Izzard are most likely expecting him in all his comedic glory and instead he’s playing the drama card. Not that he hasn’t done that before—he has acted in a handful of serious roles and he’s more than capable. It’s just that, if you’ve ever seen his standup special Dress to Kill (and if you haven’t, quickly run out and rent it—it’s the funniest thing out there), you are probably expecting him to play funny on The Riches. Despite the seriousness, the show averaged 3.8 million viewers. If you missed it, FX will re-air the debut on Saturday at 10 p.m. and Sunday at 11 p.m. With any luck, I’ll get a chance to watch it on my DVR before the weekend.

‘Strangers With Candy’ Creator Directs New Fox Comedy
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, Cable, FOX, Cable/Satellite,
If you’re a Strangers with Candy fan, no doubt you are a fan of Paul Dinello. He co-wrote, directed and starred in the Comedy Central show. His role as art teacher Geoffry Jellineck, and his scenes with Stephen Colbert in particular, were too funny. The good news is that he’s directing a pilot for FOX.. the bad news is that he won’t be appearing in this comedy. No worries—Me & Lee? sounds like just the quirky little show that’s right up his alley. Strangely enough, it’s about a man who discovers “bionic” back surgery in his search for back pain relief. The “Lee” part comes into play with the Bionic Man, Lee Majors, who runs the bionic back surgery operation. So far, no news on casting, but we’re guessing the part of Lee Majors will be played by… Lee Majors. Oh please, just play that cheesy bionic sound effect—that’ll be a great hook to keep the viewers coming back for more! And cast Amy Sedaris. Pretty please?

Idol’s Cowell and Seacrest Exhange Insults
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
Am I the only one who thinks that Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell should just can it on the insults already? I mean, how long have they been exchanging stupid digs now? If you watched last night, you got the latest gay-innuendo-themed exchange. Ryan questioned contestant Melinda Doolittle about the hardest part of the competition, to which she answered the dresses and high heels. Seacrest took the opportunity to get a dig in to Simon, asking if he had “any advice on the high heels.” Back and forth they go from there…
- Simon: “You should know, Ryan.”
- Ryan: “Stay out of my closet, Simon.”
- Simon: “Well, come out.”
- Ryan: “This is about the Top 12, okay? Not your wishes.”
I guess it’s an attempt to interject some humor into the sweat-inducing competition, but it’s getting really old. Really fast.

An Open Letter To Future Amazing Racers
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Prime Time, Reality, CBS, Amazing Race, The, Editorial, Features,
First of all, congratulations. Also, I’m a little annoyed with you since I applied for the show a while ago with what I thought was a great hook of an idea, and didn’t get picked. I don’t think your little thing that makes you special is better than my … oh, you do? You just have the one … ? And your partner, she’s never … ?
Okay, fine, yours is better. As long as you’re not dating models, or dating actors, or actors/models who were formerly dating. And so on.
Good luck on the Race, which is easily my favorite reality show (sorry Survivor) (And I Love New York) (And … you know, let’s move on), but please remember one major thing before you set out on your Phil-directed race around the world:
It’s a race, which means whoever gets to the finish line first wins.
