Comic-Con News: Glee Cast to Appear on The Simpsons

During a recent Simpsons panel discussion at Comic-Con, showrunner Al Jean announced that the cast of Glee will appear during an upcoming episode of the show. The exact cast members who’ll be involved - including cheer coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) - have not yet been announced.

The upcoming season of The Simpsons will feature a number of notables such as Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg and ‘60s icons Cheech and Chong.

Comic-Con visitors at the Simpsons session also viewed a preview of October’s “Treehouse of Horror” episode, which features killer board games.

The Simpsons is America’s longest-running sitcom and the country’s longest-running animated program. The historic 22nd season will air Sunday nights on FOX.

Sunday Ratings: CBS, NBC Both Win the Race

Aside from FOX’s early celebration of Halloween (and a shift in CBS’ schedule), yesterday’s schedule was pretty uneventful. By night’s end, the Eye network was tops with the viewers while the Peacock network was first in the demos.

8pm

• 60 Minutes (4.3/11 in 18-49) pulled in 16 million after a football overrun.
• Approximately 14.7 million watched the Atlanta Falcons beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football (6.1/15).
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.0/8) had 10.4 million feeling emotional.
• The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror XX (4.1/11) entertained 8.6 million; The Cleveland Show (3.8/9) pulled in 7.7 million.

• Heroes (NBC, 9pm):  “Angela asks Sylar to save Peter.” As if anyone believes that Peter - or anyone else - would really die at this point.
• Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9pm):  “The Gosselins get ready for a trip to Hawaii, where Jon and Kate will renew their wedding vows.” This time around, they’ll be paying to feed 8 more guests.
• One Tree Hill (CW, 9pm):  “Lucas’ second novel proves successful.” Let’s see if we can say the same for Chad Michael Murray‘s second wedding.
• My Own Worst Enemy (NBC, 10pm):  “Edward’s trip to Mexico to gain intel on Russian weaponry doesn’t go as planned.” Nothing about this show is going as planned.

Sunday Ratings: Football Draws Large Crowds

Two big football match-ups gave NBC and CBS nice ratings boosts:

8pm

• NBC’s Sunday Night Football (6.3/16 in 18-49 demo) averaged 15.3 million viewers for the evening.
• Strong numbers from the earlier Colts/Patriots game helped The Amazing Race (13.8 million, 4.2/9) earn a strong season debut.
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (13.07 million, 4.7/11) was slightly down from last week.
• The Simpsons ‘Treehouse of Horror’ special (5.7/13) scared up 11.7 million fans.
• Life is Wild (1.07 million, 0.4/1) remained dismally even.

9pm

• About 18.6 million saw Bree’s daughter give birth on Desperate Housewives (7.0/16 in 18-49 demo).
• Cold Case (13.7 million, 3.4/8) saw an improvement from last week.
• Both half hours of Family Guy (5.4/12) raked in about 10.5 million viewers.
• American Dad (3.6/8) rounded off the hour with 7.08 million.

10pm

• Brothers & Sisters (12.1, 4.5/13 in 18-49 demo) was down about 500,000 from last week.
• Shark (10.6 million, 2.3/8) did about the same.

• Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9pm):  “Charlie’s girlfriend does not like to be seen with him in public.”  She’s afraid she’ll be attacked by Denise Richards.
• Samantha Who? (ABC, 9:30):  “Sam assumes her role as a bridesmaid at a friend’s wedding, but upon arriving, she learns that the friend does not want her there.”  If only she knew that before she paid for the dress.
• The Bachelor (ABC, 10pm):  “The final four contestants bring Brad home to meet their parents.”  The dads all envy his cool beard.
• Californication (Showtime, 10:30pm):  Season finale.  Hopefully I’ll stop singing the Chili Peppers song now.
