Leaked Photos Show LG’s Apple Home Cameras. Code in iOS 27.2 Names Schneider Electric Too.

Two leakers moved the Apple and LG home story along today, and Apple had nothing to do with it. Mark Gurman reported yesterday that Apple co-developed a line of home accessories with LG that will ship under LG's name. Today an X account called @ringo_tech posted images of four of them, and the leaker pdfu found code in iOS 27.2 that labels two Schneider Electric products the same way Apple's code labels the LG gear.

The photos will get the attention. The Schneider line in the code is the part I keep rereading. "Second-party" is Apple's own label inside its HomeKit database, and right now only the LG accessories and those two Schneider products carry it. The label reportedly means those accessories get special treatment from the operating system, which would put them in a tier between Apple's own hardware and the HomeKit gear anyone can build.

What the photos show

The four devices are named LG Video Doorbell Wired, LG Floodlight Cam, LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In and LG Indoor Cam Plug-In. The doorbell appears to have two cameras, a main one and a second pointed down, which is how you see the package on your doormat instead of the top of the delivery driver's head. The images also show an AC/DC converter, a USB board, two Wi-Fi antenna connections and a Thread antenna, with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

The Floodlight Cam has separate left and right lights, infrared LEDs for night vision, an ambient-light sensor, microphone components and a speaker, plus dual-band Wi-Fi and Thread and NFC antennas. It shares design elements with the Outdoor Cam Plug-In, which adds a ball-joint mount, a power adapter, and O-rings and waterproof grease at the seams. Sealing is the detail you only think about two winters later, when water has found the one gap in your porch camera.

The Indoor Cam Plug-In appears to have a motor and gear assembly for tilting up and down, along with Hall IC components, infrared LEDs, a microphone and a speaker. All four reportedly support WPA2 and WPA3. 9to5Mac, which posted the images, says the details look credible. It has not confirmed them independently, and it describes @ringo_tech as a small account with a solid track record on smart home accessory leaks.

Schneider Electric, out of nowhere

The two Schneider products in the iOS 27.2 code are a smart thermostat and a temperature and humidity sensor. Only the thermostat has placeholder setup assets so far, and its setup configuration mentions "Proximity Settings," a phrase sitting in beta code with no explanation attached.

Whether Apple worked as closely with Schneider as it reportedly did with LG is unclear. The code suggests a similar arrangement, and that is as far as it goes. The overlap is odd, though: LG is reportedly building a thermostat and a temperature sensor as well, along with a smart lock, and pdfu posted images of those earlier the same day.

What none of this is

Every detail here comes from photos of parts and strings in a beta. A placeholder setup asset in iOS 27.2 does not mean a product exists, and the names in the images may not be the names on any box. Apple can change or cancel any of it, and neither leak carries a price or a ship date.

The hardware with a calendar attached is Apple's own, and even that is reporting rather than an announcement: a new Apple TV 4K, a "HomePad" and a HomePod mini 2 are expected next week. If the second-party tier turns out to be real, the LG and Schneider accessories are what fill in the rest of the house around those. If you have been waiting to buy a porch camera or a thermostat until Apple's plan is clear, keep waiting. Next week should tell you about Apple's own hardware and probably nothing about LG's.
