Stars Unite for Gulf Spill Telethon

Once again, celebrities will be uniting for a good cause—and they weren’t asked by George Clooney to do so.
On Monday, CNN will broadcast a Larry King Live special focused on the BP oil spill. The telethon - Disaster in the Gulf: How You Can Help - will allow viewers to contribute to one of three different charities (The Nature Conservancy, United Way, or the National Wildlife Federation). Donations raised will “go to aid in rebuilding the Gulf Coast.”
Those helping King with the two-hour event include Ryan Seacrest, Chelsea Handler, Sting, Tim McGraw, Kathy Griffin, Alyssa Milano, Deepak Chopra, Pete Wentz, Ted Danson, Robert Redford, Harry Connick Jr., Jenny McCarthy and Philippe Cousteau.
The special will air from 8 to 10 p.m. Eastern.

BET to Host Another Haiti Fundraiser

George Clooney may have organized the first major Haiti fundraiser, but it wasn’t the last one.
Later this week, Queen Latifah - with help from Sean Combs and Pharrell - will host another star-studded benefit event. The telethon, which is being presented by BET, will air across multiple channels including MTV, VH1 and Centric.
Wyclef, Ne-Yo, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Akon, Ludacris, Mary J. Blige, Robin Thicke and India.Arie will be among the participants.
SOS Saving OurSelves - Help for Haiti will air from Miami at 8:00 on Friday night.

Stars Line Up for Haiti Telethon
George Clooney, Wyclef Jean and Anderson Cooper will be accompanied by a number of big names during their upcoming telethon.
Hope for Haiti, a fundraiser organized for the devastated country, will air commercial-free this Friday night across a number of networks. ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, the CW, HBO, MTV, VH1 and CMT are among the channels involved.

George Clooney Leading Haiti Telethon

When there’s a disaster of epic proportions, we can usually count on three things: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will donate a large chunk of change to the cause, Anderson Cooper will make his way to the middle of the tragedy, and George Clooney will rally the troops for a fundraiser.
To help those devastated by the earthquake in Haiti, the Up in the Air star has already immersed himself in plans for a possible celebrity-filled telethon.
The event - which will reportedly air on MTV, HBO and CBS - is tentatively scheduled for Friday, January 22.
ABC, NBC, CNN may also participate and televise the broadcast.
Jeff Gallen, the same who man produced the 9/11 fundraiser Clooney worked on (America: A Tribute to Heroes), will be involved with this project, as well.

Networks Team Up for Cancer
Although the nightly competition between Charles Gibson and Brian Williams is quite tight, the two journalists - along with Katie Couric - combined forces today to promote a joint project. In a rare event, the trio hit all three morning shows to deliver the special news. This meant a return to old stomping grounds for both Couric (Today) and Gibson (Good Morning America).
Together they announced that ABC, NBC and CBS will be simultaneously devoting one hour to the same cause: the fight against cancer. Stand Up 2 Cancer, a commercial-free telethon airing September 5th, will aim to raise funds for research.
