Dancing With the Stars 12: Week 3 Elimination

Dancing With the Stars 12 - Wendy WilliamsAnother celebrity was kicked off Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night, but the elimination was hardly a shock. Monday’s performance round gave us the biggest surprise of the week when Kirstie Alley fell to the floor after being dropped by her partner.

Low vote-getter Wendy Williams was handed her walking papers at the end of the results show. She managed a combined score of only 15 from judges during the performance round, and found herself in the bottom three last week.

“It has been a wonderful opportunity for me,” the talk show host said of her time on the show. Williams thanked partner Tony Dovolani for teaching her “how to dance” before she said her final good-bye.

Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio, who both earned a combined score of 21 on Monday, were never in danger once. Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett and Chris Jericho found themselves in danger instead, though both received good marks and praise from the judges. Sugar Ray Leonard, who was in elimination danger last week, was declared safe early on in the episode.

American Idol 10: Top 9 Perform

American Idol gave viewers an energetic opening to Wednesday’s performance night. Gwen Stefani worked on the show for the week, dressing all the female contenders in her clothing line in a bit of cross-promotion courtesy of FOX. The week’s theme was dedicated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Idol’s new judge Steven Tyler is a recent inductee into the Hall.

Black Eyed Pea will.i.am helped coach contestant, some of whom were bound to have big trouble with a rock n roll theme.

Dancing With the Stars 12: Kirstie Alley Dropped, But Favorites Stay Strong

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley looked beautiful together on Monday night’s Dancing With the Stars… until his leg gave out early on in the routine. The actress fell to the floor, the audience audibly gasped, and both performers quickly scrambled to their feet. The dance -- this week, it was the rumba -- was flawless after that. Watch the performance in the video above. The judges admired Alley’s spunk and quick recovery; they each awarded her a 7 as a balm.

Review: The Borgias Premiere on Showtime

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Cable, Showtime, Gossip,

The Borgias - Jeremy Irons as Rodrigo BorgiaShowtime’s answer to the gap left by The Tudors debuted on Sunday night. The Borgias, touted by the cable channel as “the original crime family,” enjoyed a 100-minute premiere episode that packed in about as much corruption, sex and murder as any one show can handle.

Jeremy Irons is Spanish-born Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia, but after some clever scheming we were soon calling him Pope Alexander VI. His son Cesare Borgia (Francios Arnaud) is an unwilling cleric but able co-plotter, though his relationship with sister Lucrezia (Holliday Grainger) is incredibly suspect. Younger brother Juan (David Oakes) very much enjoys his soldier role, one that’s coveted by older brother Cesare… who seems far more skilled toward this end than toward his religious duties.

Mobbed

Following American Idol’s results show, FOX introduced us to Nikki and Justin. They are the first in what we hope is a long line of subjects to appear on Mobbed, the network’s newest reality series. It premiered on Thursday, and it’s sure to become one of the most enjoyable hours on TV.

Justin wanted to propose, but he didn’t want to do it in any ordinary sort of way. So, he talked to show host Howie Mandel about creating a dancing flash mob to back him up while he pops the question. Mandel’s enthusiasm won everyone over right away -- he grinned the entire time preparations were being made.

American Idol 10: Top 11 Perform… Again

American Idol 10 - Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson

The second Top 11 performance on American Idol began with an appropriate recap of last week’s shocking elimination, which culminated in the most dramatic judges’ save in show history. The save is now gone, and all 11 performers have been cut loose to stand on their own… if they can.

Ryan Seacrest spent some time speaking about last week’s “incredible moment” before introducing the singers for the evening and theme for the night. Elton John was the man of the evening, a rock icon who has rubbed elbows with royalty and inspired the likes of Lady Gaga, Madonna and others.

Dancing With the Stars 12: First Dancer Eliminated

Dancing With the Stars 12

Last week, ABC’s celebrity dancers got a free pass -- but this week, the field had to be narrowed. Someone had to become the first casualty of Dancing With the Stars 12, and the first results show of the season was tense indeed.

Host Tom Bergeron prolonged the agony for as long as possible, putting bottom three dancers Wendy Williams, Sugar Ray Leonard and “Psycho Mike” Catherwood on pins and needles. All three have received consistent crticism from the judges, but all have been extremely likable contestants. Sadly, one had to go…

American Idol 10: Top 11 Results

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Video,

American Idol began Thursday’s results show with an explanation of the Motown genre… though we use the word “explanation” rather loosely. More than 30 million votes were counted to bring the night’s results, which Ryan Seacrest hyped “may shock you.” For once, his words proved true. The male competitors wore black suits for results night, while the girls put on shimmering white evening wear.

As always, Idol peppered its results show with videos of behind-the-scenes action.

American Idol 10: Top 11 Compete

It was Motown night on American Idol, and one of the most important performance weeks of the entire contest. With 11 Idols remaining, tensions were high -- for only the Top 10 will go on the Idol summer tour.

Casey Abrams chose the hit “Heard It Through the Grapevine” to start the show. The song, and the theme, truly suits Casey’s voice. He sounded amazing during his performance, which should be enough to help him escape the first performance positioning curse. Abrams put plenty of energy into his act, and much of the crowd was on their feet during the rollicking number.

Pretty Little Liars: Pretty Chilling Season Finale

Pretty Little Liars - Season One Finale

At the end of season one, Pretty Little Liars is down one villain… er, we think. And, we definitely solved Alison’s murder. We think. Well, at least we’ve ruled out one suspect on our list of possible “A” candidates -- we think.

Okay, so here’s what we know: the Pretty Little Liars season finale was awesome. But it left us with lots and lots of questions, just a few tantalizing answers and plenty of reasons to look forward to season 2 -- not the least of which is the return of Caleb (Tyler Blackburn).
