Mariah Carey: “Nick Cannon Convinced Me to Join Idol”

Mariah Carey's husband convinced her to join the American Idol panel.
The "Hero" singer admitted she was initially wary of taking a role on the judging panel of the pop star search show but America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon talked her into it.
"He really wanted me to do this. I had my own kind of reservations about it because I didn't know how I would adapt to the situation. It's a huge deal," she said.
However, Mariah admitted she would have hated to be a contestant on the show when she was first starting out: "I get really attached to certain people for different reasons whether it's their story or what it mainly is is talent. Sometimes I see myself in some of the contestants when I first started and I'm glad I didn't have to do a show like this. I would have hated it! It's been really fun. We're still in the beginning stages but I've learned a lot. I want to continue to be the best I can be in order to help contestants. It's that for me. I don't know if I have a judging style. I try to speak as frankly as possible, but as kindly as possible not sugar coating the whole thing because that does nobody any good and that's boring to watch."

Sharon Osbourne Taking a Break From The Talk

Sharon Osbourne is taking a break from The Talk to spend more time with her husband. The 58-year-old star insists she is not leaving the discussion program for good, but she will not be on the panel when the show returns after its summer break in September because she wants to be with her spouse, rocker Ozzy Osbourne when he comes off tour.
"I've kept it no secret that I really miss my husband. He'll have been on tour for 18 months by the time it's over. I've spent a lot of time away from him. He gets a break at the end of September and so I've asked for a little break so I can be with him. I don't want to give it up. It's a great, great show. We've all worked really hard over the last year. I'm not going to walk away from that. I just need some real good quality time to be with my hubby."
One reason Sharon wants to return is the close bond she has with co-hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini: "I'm very close to the women on the show. I didn't think that I would be [because] none of us knew each other going into it. We just didn't know each other socially."
Sharon's close friend, however, America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon thinks The Talk will struggle without her. "She's marvelous. She's the caregiver to us all. She just calms us all down."

Awkward TV: Not Feeling Good About David Hasselhoff
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, NBC, Video,
If you were to combine Patrick Swayze’s “She’s Like the Wind” with Katie Holmes’ So You think You Can Dance performance and any musical number from William Shatner, you might get this.
On last night’s broadcast of America’s Got Talent, the audience was forced to endure a performance from “a real American icon.” (Those were Nick Cannon’s words, not mine.)
“He acts, he sings, he dances and he also talks a lot on this show. With a Hofftastic performance of ‘Feelin’ Good,’ give it up for David Hasselhoff!”
Note to Heidi Montag: If you’re going to suck, at least do it live.

Nick Cannon to Host America’s Got Talent
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, NBC,
Regis Philbin, Jerry Springer…Nick Cannon?
Earlier today, NBC named the 28-year-old singer/actor/producer as the next host of America’s Got Talent. This news comes just days after Jerry Springer announced he would not be returning.
Although Mr. Mariah Carey is best known these days for his husbandly escorting skills, Cannon does have other “leading” experience on his resume. Nick has already produced and hosted four seasons of Wild ‘N Out, an improv show on MTV. Additionally, he’s acted in several movies (Drumline, Bobby) and served as a music video director for his wife.
Cannon’s summer gig kicks off a new partnership with the network. “This is just the first of multiple projects we are looking to do with Nick at NBC,” NBC co-chair Ben Silverman said. “He’s a true triple threat, a multi-talented producer, actor and musician. We are excited to welcome him to the NBC family.”
