Thursday Ratings: NBC Showered with Good News
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Food & Home, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Grey’s Anatomy, Survivor, The Office, Ratings,
Hey NBC - primetime might actually survive in the post-Jay Leno world after all. Last night’s arrival of Jim and Pam’s baby on The Office delivered something the network hadn’t seen before, a victory over Grey’s Anatomy in the demos. That one-hour special lead into another nice win for the network. The Marriage Ref‘s time slot debut also defeated the competition in the 18-49s.
8pm
- American Idol (19.3 million, 6.5/19 in 18-49) still had the best numbers of the evening.
- Survivor (12.7 million, 3.8/11) picked up 1.2 million more.
- Community (2.3/7) kicked off the night with 5.1 million.
- A Grey’s Anatomy* repeat (1.2/3) turned in 5 million.
- Parks and Recreation (4.6 million, 2.3/6) lost part of its lead-in.
- The Vampire Diaries* (0.7/2) checked in 1.7 million.

Did you see the moment when Sugar ran topless down the beach on Survivor? If you didn’t, you were one of the few. The two-hour premiere of the Heroes vs. Villains edition attracted 14.1 million fans and helped put a ding into Grey’s Anatomy‘s numbers.
8pm
- Approximately 14.1 million watched the two-hour debut of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains (4.5/12 in 18-49).
- Bones* (2.1/6) dug up 8.1 million.
- The Deep End (5.7 million, 1.5/4) picked up 600,000 more.
- Community (5.2 million, 2.3/7) remained steady.
- Parks and Recreation (5 million, 2.3/6) was up a tick.
- The Vampire Diaries (3.6 million, 1.5/4) lost 400,000.

Thursday Ratings: ABC, CBS Split First Night of Sweeps
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, 30 Rock, Grey’s Anatomy, Survivor, The Office, Ratings,
FOX’s ride to the top ended quickly. When originals returned to ABC and CBS, so did the numbers. Last night, the Alphabet network - with no help from The Deep End - narrowly took first in the demos. Meanwhile, CBS was easily the winner with the viewers.
8pm
- Bones (12.3 million, 3.3/10 in 18-49) did about the same.
- CBS’ Survivor Survivor special (2.4/7) had 8.3 million looking back.
- Community (2.2/7) entertained 5.2 million.
- The Deep End (5.1 million, 1.3/4) plunged by 900,000.
- Parks and Recreation (4.9 million, 2.3/6) hit a season high rating.
- The Vampire Diaries (4 million, 1.8/5) sucked in 200,000 more.

Thursday Ratings: Bones Bests CSI, Deep End Sinks
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, Talk Shows, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, 30 Rock, Grey’s Anatomy, The Office, Ratings,
Last night’s programming ended with interesting results. Despite non-stop promotions, ABC’s freshman series The Deep End struggled to find an audience with the 18-49s during its hour. Meanwhile, CBS had some good and bad news. On the plus side, repeats of The Big Bang Theory did better than original comedies on NBC. On the negative side, Bones actually beat CSI in the demos.
8pm
- Bones (11.9 million, 3.5/10 in 18-49) had its biggest audience in three years.
- The first episode of The Big Bang Theory (2.1/6) pulled in 6.9 million; a second half hour (2.4/7) rose to 7.5 million
- The Deep End (1.8/5) had 7 million testing out the waters.
- Community (4.7 million, 2.1/6) gave up 700,000.
- Parks and Recreation (4.3 million, 2.0/5) was down 300,000.
- The Vampire Diaries (1.6/4) returned to 3.7 million.

If this continues, ABC may do crossover stunts every week. Last night’s two-hour event between Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice gave ABC an easy win in the demos. Meanwhile, CBS, with its crime block, came ahead with the viewers.
8pm
- Bones (3.3/10 in 18-49) unearthed 10.7 million.
- The Mentalist* (1.9/6) delivered 9.6 million.
- Approximately 5.4 million watched Jack Black’s cameo on Community (2.3/7).
- ABC’s special on Haiti (1.4/4) had 5.4 million feeling emotional.
- Parks and Recreation (2.1/6) rounded up 4.6 million.
- The Vampire Diaries* (0.7/2) was good for 1.7 million.

Pit a handful of repeats against an original lineup and what do you get? Easy wins for CBS. The network - faced with very little competition - slid into first place in both the viewers and the demos last night.

2010 Screen Actors Guild Award Nominations (TV)
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Cable, CBS, FX, FOX, HBO, NBC, PBS, Showtime, TNT-HD, 30 Rock, House, Medium, The Office, News,

Squeezed in between the Golden Globes broadcast and the Oscar nominations is an awards ceremony voted on solely by the actors. (So unlike the People’s Choice Awards, this actually has meaning.)
For the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, we’ll see a lot of the old and just a little bit of the new. Here are some of the noteworthy mentions from this year’s list of television nominees:
- The Closer, Dexter and 30 Rock lead this year’s pack with three nominations each.
- Despite no individual mentions, freshman comedies Modern Family and Glee were both honored in the Best Ensemble category.
- Samantha Who‘s Christina Applegate received a nomination despite starring in a canceled show.
- True Blood received its first nom—but just for its cast, not for any single actor.
The SAG Awards will air Saturday, Jan. 23 on both TNT and TBS.
(You can find the full list of TV nominees after the jump. Click here for the film nominations.)
