Mariah CareyAn untimely illness has forced Janet Jackson to cancel an upcoming appearance on this weekend’s .  (It was reported that the singer made a trip to the emergency room earlier this week due to a case of the flu.)

Luckily for Lorne Michaels, the show was able to able to book someone with an equally high profile:  .

The gig is actually a win-win situation for the two parties.  Not only does the diva have an upcoming album to promote (E=MC2 comes out on April 15), the program has been trying to get the artist back on their stage for over 10 years.

Sarah ChalkeYesterday, we told you that Britney Spears would be making an upcoming appearance on How I Met Your Mother.  Unfortunately, her announced entrance was followed by someone else’s exit.

Alicia Silverstone, who was supposed to be involved in a romantic storyline with Ted, has opted out of her guest role.  It seems Alicia didn’t like the idea of Spears’ cameo overshadowing her her spotlight.  (The pop singer was slated to play her receptionist.)

Sarah Chalke - Dr. Elliot Reid from - will now be stepping in to fill the Clueless star’s shoes.  Unfortunately, her schedule will only allow her to be in one episode….not several, as was intended for Silverstone.  This most likely means will not know the identity of the show’s ‘mother’ anytime soon.

NBC Logo actress Lisa Kudrow, in association with Is or Isn’t Entertainment and Wall to Wall, will soon bring a new series to , the network desperate enough to put anything on the air. The series, Who Do You Think You Are?, will take viewers and participants on a historical journey. Each hour-long episode is derived from a British hit where celebrities are taken through their own genealogy. In the English version, stars are often brought to tears as decades- and centuries-old skeletons are pulled forth from ancestral closets. I couldn’t possibly be more disinterested in this.

Show creator and Wall to Wall CEO Alex Graham calls it “incredibly moving.” NBC has green lighted the project on certain conditions only, all of which hinge upon the cast. Several celebs are currently being researched, though as of right now NBC isn’t releasing any names.

Tucker CarlsonThe seemingly lone conservative at is out of the anchor chair, at least for now. The Associated Press reports that Tucker Carlson’s “Tucker”  show on that cable news network has been cancelled. He’ll reportedly be replaced by NBC firebrand David Gregory. Gregory’s show, Race for the White House, begins one week from tonight at 6 p.m.

MSNBC says this and other changes the network is making are in response to the growing demand for more political news. (Gosh, it seems like that is all they do now besides all those prison reality shows and constant repeats of To Catch a Predator.) Other changes announced are that reporter Andrea Mitchell will now permanently anchor one hour a day on MSNBC Monday through Friday and that Countdown With Keith Olbermann will rerun every night at 10 p.m.

In addition to Amy Poehler’s imitation of Project Runway winner , we get cameos from ‘Tim Gunn’ and ‘Heidi Klum’.

(UPDATE:  Real-life Christian apparently enjoyed the skit as well.)
