On Gear Live: Apple’s M5 Chip Made the MacBook Pro Unstoppable!

Scott BaioAs we mentioned back in August, Charles in Charge’s had enough personal issues to fill another season of programming.  Now we have a better idea what we will see when his life unfolds for the cameras again next month.

The famous playboy, and star of , had spent the duration of his summer show trying to figure out if he was finally ready for marriage.  With the help of a life coach, Baio dealt with a myriad of issues from his past relationships.  Although he was known for cheating on most of his high-profile romances, it truly seemed that he was on the road to commitment by the series’ final episode.  Unfortunately, that was also when his girlfriend, Renee Sloan, decided to drop a bombshell on him:  he was gonna be a daddy.

Several months later, Scott is now the father of a baby girl…and a newlywed.  The nuptials - which took place in Los Angeles just this past weekend - will be documented in Season 2 when it premieres this January.  No word yet whether the show will be retitled to reflect Baio’s current status.

Presidential DebateGet your DVR ready, set up the Tivo, or pop a tape into that antiquated VCR – because if you don’t, you’re probably going to miss the next round of . The writers’ strike has changed everything about TV, and the democratic process is no exception. The Democratic debate scheduled for December 10 was canceled because the three front runners in that party (Clinton, Obama, Edwards) would not cross picket lines. But never fear, there’s one scheduled for December 13 that will go on as planned. On the Republican side, the debate takes place on December 12. But odd time slots mean you’re probably going to miss every bit of these two-hour arguments.

The December 12 debate (Republicans) and the December 13 debate (Democrats) will both air on the Fox News Channel (a partisan cable channel if ever there was one) at 2 pm. 2 pm? Yes, in the middle of the day (hence, the need for recording devices). The Democratic debates scheduled for December 17 and January 6 have been canceled, but these Presidential hopefuls will bump heads again on January 5, 21 and 31 (New Year’s Eve – what a great addition to any party). Meanwhile, the Republican hopefuls (including ) will argue their sides on January 5,6, 10 and 30.

The Hills

MONDAY (12/10)
  • (ABC, 8pm):  “Linus and Lucy’s little brother, Rerun, hangs with Snoopy and his own sibling, the desert-dwelling Spike.”  Was I the only one not aware of the What’s Happening!/Peanuts crossover episode?
  • (CBS, 8pm):  “Ted asks his doctor on a date and his friends try to discourage him from dating someone he sees regularly.”  Relationships clearly work best when you never see them at all.
  • (ABC, 9:30pm):  “Lauren tries to convince her sister to move to LA so she can be nearby when the baby is born.”  Lauren’s sister isn’t stupid.  She knows what ‘be nearby’ means.
  • (MTV, 10pm): Season finale.  “Lauren gets an offer to go to Paris.”  I really hope doesn’t take their version of quality programming overseas (again).  The French hate us already.

Tom BradyMonday night’s game between the undefeated New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens earned stellar numbers for —and record numbers for cable overall.

The game drew 17.5 million viewers.  This total, just like the score of the game (27-24), narrowly beat the record set by for the most-watched cable telecast ever.  (The musical’s August premiere rounded up an impressive 17.2 million for .)

Assuming QB brings his undefeated team all the way to this year’s championship game, we can expect insane viewing numbers and advertising dollars for

The , featuring Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, is scheduled for Feb. 3rd.

Snoop Dogg paved the way for musicians as stars, but so far there have been few successes for rich recording families. Many have tried, but few have matched the ratings success of this first musical family. E! hopes to change all that with their new series, .

The series will feature Snoop himself, of course, along with wife Shante and their three kids aged 7, 9 and 11.  The artist’s life will include all sorts of tidbits from the recording industry as the rapper is currently poised to release his new album, Ego Trippin’, in a matter of days.  But with Father Hood, it’s what viewers won’t see that will be interesting.  Surprisingly, this show isn’t going to be about gangsta living and chasing tail; audiences will get a rare look at Dogg in his California hills home as a family man.

Jericho and Orton face offWWE Monday Night RAW opens with “Y2J” Chris Jericho in the ring doing his whole “me want title shot” schtick. Jericho replays the video of WWE Champion Randy Orton accepting Jericho’s challenge for Armageddon. Orton comes out and it’s pretty much more of the same. The two get in each others faces - threat, threat, threat - and it almost comes to blows. Of course, Regal comes out and stops them. Orton and Jericho will pick each other’s opponents for the night. It would make sense for them to make Jericho face Flair. Now, that would be a good match. Instead, Jericho will face Umaga. Orton will face off against Shawn Michaels. Not bad main events!

After the jump, three WWE legends and an “Attitude Era” tag team make surprise “returns”!

The Closer

MONDAY (12/3)
  • (TNT, 8pm):  The special two-hour holiday episode brings Brenda’s parents into the investigative fold.  Nothing says Christmas like talking blood with your blood.
  • (NBC, 9pm):  (NOTE:  This is the last new episode left.)  ‘Peter squares off against former friends thanks to Adam’s confusing story about the Shanti virus.’  He shouldn’t fault Adam; the confusing storyline is to blame.
  • (FOX, 9pm):  ‘Boulet and Cobb investigate an insurance adjuster’s murder.’  As if there weren’t enough people in New Orleans with a motive.
  • (NBC, 10pm): (First half of the two-parter; 2nd half airs Wednesday).  ‘Evidence points to Reese’s father in the murders that sent Crews to prison.’  I’m guessing this won’t be resolved anytime soon…otherwise, we wouldn’t have a show.

Nicole RichieStrange things happen to women when they get pregnant, but it’s hard not to look at some celebs with a cynical eye. How is it possible, for instance, that a party girl and troublemaker, reality star and celebutante, could suddenly become a responsible adult? Believe it or not, Nicole Richie seems ready to accept that role.

The expectant starlet recently delayed her wedding to boyfriend (and father-to-be) Joel Madden, but she’s moving forward with other areas of her life. Now that she’s going to be a mother herself, Nicole is looking for a way to bury the hatchet with her biological parents, people she’s had a rocky relationship with from the age of three. Nicole plans to open up about her biological parents in an upcoming interview, and hopes to pave the way for a future relationship.  Meanwhile, the postponed nuptials will take place after the birth of her baby - the sex of which Richie has opted to not learn.

Once, she was a sidekick to frenemy Paris Hilton. Now, she’s a young mother-to-be doing her best to bridge the gap between her past and the future. Unbelievably, it looks like Miss Richie is finally growing up.
