EndScore Report: Carmelo Anthony trade to the New York Knicks review

Posted by Dennis Velasco Categories: Athletes, Editorial, NBA, Trades,

Carmelo Anthony trade to the New York Knicks reviewDV and Chris take a look at the Carmelo Anthony trade to the New York Knicks and how it's panned out thus far. The Knicks are now 7-6 since the trade (NOTE: this podcast was recorded before the Knicks win versus the Memphis Grizzlies), while the Denver Nuggets are 9-2. DV argues that the Knicks gave up too much in Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, and the prospect of Timofey Mozgov and while Chris agrees, to get a "superstar" like Anthony was or will be worth the price in order to possibly (hopefully) get another big name star and form the trendy Big Three of star NBA players ala the Miami Heat with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. Either way, the one thing both DV and Chris can agree on is that the Knicks won't go far without playing defense. Download and listen here!

Deron Williams traded to the New Jersey Nets

Deron Williams is traded to the New Jersey NetsThe New Jersey Nets pulled off a coup by trading for Deron Williams of the Utah Jazz for Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, and two first round draft picks. The picks are the Nets' 2011 first round pick and the Golden State Warrior's 2012 first round pick, which the Nets received in the Marcus Williams trade. After a seven-month long serenade of Carmelo Anthony and ultimately failing, the Nets acted quickly in acquiring Williams, the superstar they hope to be the face of the franchise as they move into the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The hope is that Williams' presence will help lure other superstar free agents, particularly Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic who can opt out of his contract after the 2011-12 season. The Nets hope that Williams is only the first step in many to come.

Carmelo Anthony versus the New Jersey Nets

Carmelo Anthony may soon be joining the New Jersey Nets if he agrees to sign a contract extension, therefore leaving the Denver Nuggets, a team he’s played for for seven seasons.  The trade includes the Utah Jazz and Charlotte Bobcats as well with the primary players being moved being Andrei Kirilenko and Derrick Favors to the Nuggets and Devin Harris to the Bobcats.  Rumors have the Nuggets holding out, hoping for a better deal, but considering they’re not in a position to rescind trades since Anthony will most assuredly leave the team after the season at the latest, expect the only hold-up being Anthony agreeing to an extension with the Nets.

John WallJune is the month for the NBA Draft, when fans and experts alike chart players and teams to determine which future prospect will be taken by which team. The process is both exciting and captivating, as it hints at the future of many NBA ball clubs. Yet, NBA Draft buzz doesn’t start in June. Even though the college basketball season is just underway, murmurings of where players might go in the 2010 NBA Draft have already surfaced. Here’s an early look at how the draft might shape up.

1.  New Jersey Nets select PG John Wall, Kentucky, 6-4, 195lbs
Wall is the consensus top pick at this point. Wall has great size and athleticism for a point guard. After six games, he’s averaging 18.5 ppg, 7.8 apg, 4.0 rpg, 2.5 spg, while shooting 56% from the field and 80% from the line. He somewhat resembles Derrick Rose. Though the Nets have Devin Harris, it’s hard to imagine them passing on a potential superstar like Wall.
