Jimmer Fredette leads AP All-America teamJimmer Fredette of BYU led the way in voting for the AP All-America team with 64 votes of a possible 65 from the national media members that also vote for the Top 25 college basketball teams each week during the season. Joining Fredette were two other seniors in Duke point guard Nolan Smith who received 61 votes and Purdue big man JaJuan Johnson who received 44 votes. Junior point guard Kemba Walker from UConn also made the team with 51 votes and freshman phenom Jared Sullinger from Ohio State joined the upper classmen with 58 votes. The voting took place before the NCAA Tournament and rewards regular season excellence.

The Duke University Blue Devils get the In Your Face treatmentDV and Chris get down with the inaugural edition of In Your Face, a weekly feature (most likely on Fridays) where they call out a player, coach, and/or team. This week, the Duke University Blue Devils and New York Knicks get the In Your Face treatment. Duke is no longer in the NCAA Tournament after losing to the Arizona Wildcats and it's sweetness for about 99% of the population. The New York Knicks traded for Carmelo Anthony and it's not looking so good. The EndScore Report recently reviewed the trade, but the team's losing streak and the Denver Nuggets' winning ways was just too noteworthy not to give the Knicks an In Your Face. Listen to the gloating and sadness.

Nolan Smith and the Duke Blue Devils return to the topThe Duke Blue Devils once again regained the top spot in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll after the previous week's top four - Kansas, Ohio State, San Diego State, and Texas - all lost enabling the then fifth-ranked Blue Devils to jump to the top. However, the news of Duke being amongst college basketball's elite isn't news, but the St. John's Red Storm being ranked in the top 25 is news! The last time St. John's was ranked in the coaches poll was in 2000, but even more important, the last time they were in the NCAA Tournament was in 2002. Considering their record (17-9; 9-5 in the Big East), the Red Storm have a really good shot to make the party known as March Madness this year. Head coach Steve Lavin is in his first season as St. John's man on the sideline and has given the Red Storm faithful something to cheer about again. New York basketball isn't the same unless St. John's is doing well and considering the recent trade for Carmelo Anthony by the New York Knicks, it's safe to say that New York hoops is back in a big way.

Cam Newton entering the NFL Draft

Cam Newton, quarterback of the Auburn Tigers, has decided to forego his senior season and declare for the 2011 NFL Draft. Newton had a big junior season at Auburn, leading the Tigers to a national championship, as well as college football's top individual prize, the Heisman Trophy. Newton is a versatile quarterback that could both throw and run the bell at a high level. However, production in college doesn't always translate to the NFL, but Newton has a good shot because he also has the physical tools to succeed right away. However, will the pay for play controversy that hit him this past season be a detriment to his draft spot? Time will tell.

Stanford quarterback and projected first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft has decided to return to school at Stanford. This news is especially bad for the Carolina Panthers who own the number one pick in the draft and mentioned that they would take Luck should he come out. Luckily, they already have a young quarterback in rookie Jimmy Clausen who probably just needs more reps before filling his promise. In the end, this might work out well for the team, although the fanbase had to be expecting Luck to take snaps under center in 2011.

Stanford beats UConnThe UConn Huskies women's basketball team win streak of 90 games ends thanks to a 71-59 loss to the Stanford Cardinal women's team. UConn, who recently beat the NCAA men's win streak that was achieved by the UCLA Bruins led by the legendary John Wooden, lost to the eighth-ranked team in the country, so there is no shame in the streak ending. The Huskies who were ranked number one could fall slightly in the rankings, but in the end, winning the NCAA tournament is what matters most. A streak of championships is more important and by the time the tournament comes, the Huskies will definitely go for a postseason win streak all the way to the title.

Urban MeyerUrban Meyer has decided to call it quits, officially leaving the University of Florida Gators without a head football coach. Meyer was a successful coach that helped the Gators win a BCS National Championship, but had a relatively bad season in 2010, finishing 7-5 and performing as in previous seasons. Meyer has health issues that previously threatened his availablity to coach the team and led to a Brett Favre-like back and forth on whether or not he was coming back to coach the team or leaving entirely. Should people consider this latest announcement to be the final one or will the back and forth ensue? For now, Meyer is out of the Gators picture.
