Decorate Your Toilet and Help ACS
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smart Home, Internet, Misc. Tech,
If you recall, we told you about the Toilet Tattoos that jazz up your tank. Okay, they don’t play music or light up your life in the bathroom, but they may give you a bit of your fave celebrity. Creator Celeste Massullo went to the AMAs and brought along some of her designs, which have been autographed and are to be auctioned off on eBay February 11. Choose from Chris Daughtry, John Legend, apprentice Omarosa, Ernest Borgnine, Ne-Yo, Larry Birkhead, Telma Hopkins, and more. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Sociey.
(Thanks, Todd)

A Sanctuary for Unwanted Holiday Gift Cards
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Hot Deals, Internet,
This appears to be the year of the Gift Card. If you received some that you don’t particularly want, you can always re-gift them or toss them in a drawer like an estimated 10 billion do. Or you can take them to Swapagift, an ingenious site where you can sell, trade, pay your bills, or donate them to your favorite charity. Registration is free and for $1.99 you can list each card with the monetary value or equal card you wish to receive. If you want to sell them outright to the site, you can receive up to 70% of their minimum balance to pay that overdue electric bill. Our kudos to a site that finally found a use for Vegans who ended up with a $100.00 credit for Outback Steakhouse.

Hilton Inheritance Drops to 7 Figures
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Gossip,
Miss Hilton, you must be pretty mad.
Hotel heiress and reality star Paris Hilton is known for many things, from her little dog to her terrible fashion decisions (don’t forget the undies!), but the celebutante is perhaps best known for her money - or at least, the money she‘s going to get one day. It’s been common knowledge that Hilton will inherit many millions - the figure was estimated to be around $100 million - and her fascinating wealth is one of the reasons the public took such a shine to her. But Miss Hilton just got bumped down at least one tax bracket. Paris will now only inherit about $5 million (boo hoo) from grandfather Conrad Hilton, who has decided to bequeath 97% of his vast estate to charity.
Does this mean Miss Hilton will have to clip coupons? Don’t count on it. Even without the other $95 million, Paris is still a Hilton.

Somewhat similar to ScroogeYourself is Santa Swing. It was created by Oddcast for Everyclick to draw attention to its search engine that helps more than 170,000 charities each time it’s used. Use your own photos or theirs, then upload a message that will be translated to audio or add your own sound files. Pass them on to your blog, Facebook, or friends. Try it yourself and remember to use Everyclick as your new search engine if you can get over Googling.

J.K. Rowling Writes Harry Potter Spinoff
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Family, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip,
Despite several press conferences and comments that she would like to branch out into writing new things, J.K. Rowling has completed the first Harry Potter spinoff. So much for the integrity of writing.
The book – an illustrated collection of fairy stories – is The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and only seven copies will be printed. One will be auctioned for charity, the others given away as gifts. Rowling drew the illustrations in the book herself and provided the handwriting for five of its stories. The book is mentioned in Rowling’s last Harry novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Fine Dining for a Great Cause
Posted by Monica Edwards Categories: Business, Personal,
Last Thursday my sister invited me out to dinner with her and a girlfriend--girl's night out--but as it happened, her husband stood in for the friend who could not make it last minute. We went to a restaurant in downtown Seattle called FareStart, not your typical restaurant in regards to where the night's profits will end up. Not to the wonderfully friendly wait-staff, as they are all volunteers, or to the Guest Chef of the night, as he, or she also volunteers their time. This restaurant that serves lunch Monday through Friday and a special dinner on Thursday nights hosted by local top chefs is a haven for former homeless adults wanting to learn a trade as well as crucial life skills that will get them back out into the workforce, back out into their communities with renewed confidence in themselves.
FareStart says it best:
