Mercedes-Benz techs caught joyriding customer’s AMG C63

Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Transportation, Videos,
Ever wonder what goes on behind closed doors at a dealership after dropping your car off for service? In normal cases, your car is well-maintained and treated with respect. However, once in a blue-moon, your car may fall into the wrong hands. Hands that decide to post a joyride, starring your car, on YouTube.
Here’s footage, recorded by two techs at a Canadian dealership, that shows them taking a Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 Couple Black Series out for a “test run." If you’re not familiar with the C63, it’s a beast designed for the Autobahn. Beneath it’s hood lies a precision engineered, 510-horsepower motor. This, in the wrong hands, is a disaster waiting to happen.
Luckily, no damage was done to the car or to others. The video does have the Mercedes-Benz community buzzing for the sheer stupidity of the stunt, and for red lining the motor so long. Check out the video above for yourself.

Video: Tupac performs with Snoop Dogg at Coachella 2012 (in holographic form)

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Misc. Tech, Music, Videos,
At Coachella 2012, Tupac Shakur made his long-awaited return to the stage, rapping his Hail Mary track solo, then performing 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted with Snoop Dogg. How's that possible? Were the rumors that Tupac never died in the first place true? Well, no, that would be ridiculous. Instead, a lot of work went into making a holographic version of the iconic rapper. Curious how it all looked? Well, that's what the video above is for. Check out the return of 2Pac above, although you may wanna mute it if foul language isn't your thing.

Six million dollar underground garage has aircraft carrier elevator entrance

So you finally bought that dream car of yours and now you’re wondering where to park the thing? We’ll, if you've got a vast amount of disposable income and want to make an impression, here's an idea. Seen on HGTV’s Million Dollar Room, this garage is filled with dozens of motorcycles--but that’s only the surface level. Walk outside, hit a red button, and watch an elevator appear out of the ground to take you into the lower level of the garage. Oh, and did we mention it uses $25 worth of electricity each time it's used? Though the cars below leave much to be desired, the elevator alone makes up for the lack of exotics.

Video: How not to finish a race: Axle fail

Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Transportation, Videos,
Drag racing seems like a simple sport, but that’s far from the truth. Sure, you hit the right pedal as hard as you can and hope to cross the quarter-mile before your opponent does, but there's more to it than that. The fact is that at any given moment the world of drag racing can turn into a one-vehicle-demolition-derby bent on self-destruction.
Here’s a clip rarely seen from both angles of cockpit and sidelines view. Watch as the 1968 Camaro gets ready to launch, only to have its left axle disintegrate followed by the tire tearing the left-rear-quarter panel to shreds.

Richmond Police will wake up residents who leave gadgets in their cars

Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Misc. Tech, Transportation, Videos,
We’re not the biggest of fans seeing red and blue flashing lights behind us, as that usually means the fun has just ended. Thanks to a new initiative in Richmond, Virginia, folks will have to worry about early-morning knocks on the door from the boys in blue as well between the hours of midnight and 4:00 a.m if they leave valuable gadgets in their cars.
RPD has started a new initiative, or wake up call service for drivers who leave itesms like smartphones, tablets, and MP3 players in their cars. Night shift officers will be patrolling the streets, peering into curbside vehicles to see if there are any valuables left behind. The motive behind the initiative is to curb vehicle break-ins, which hit a record 20 incidents over the last month. The wake-up call service is way to teach drivers a lesson, RPD says. Though we’re not too sure drivers will be coherent at 4:00 in the morning, we're hopeful that the officers will be able to teach them a little common sense.
Checkout the video above as WBBC 12 NBC reports on the initiative, and let us know in the comments if you think it’s a smart move on RPD behalf below.

Ever wonder how Apple's iconic iPad is made? Over the past several weeks, the company has come under fire due to allegegations from Mike Daisey that turned out to be completely false. Now, American Public Media's Marketplace was able to go behind the scenes at Foxconn's Longhua plant to get a look at the actual iPad production line. In the video above, you see Rob Schmitz guiding and educating us through the factory conditions.
"When I gave examples of some of the American media coverage of the working conditions at Foxconn, many workers laughed, telling me it's not really that bad" says Schmitz. "But that doesn't mean the workers don't have complaints."
Go ahead and hit play on the video above for an up-close look.

Caine’s Arcade shows the incredible creativity of a 9-year-old boy

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Design, Toys, Videos,
Caine Monroy, a 9-year-old boy with a wild imagination, decided to build an arcade in his dad's auto repair shop. Of course, being that he is, you know, just a child, Caine had to work with materials that were age-appropriate. That meant a lot of cardboard, tape, string, and a large dose of imagination. The end result is an incredible sight--Caine's Arcade. The story doesn't end there, though. You see, despite the awesome arcade that Caine built for the public, he never got any customers. Then, as luck would have it, a well-connected independent filmmaker came to play, and through that, organized a to give Caine the best day of his life. You've gotta see the video above.

Justin Bieber’s chromed-out Fisker Karma

Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Design, Transportation, Videos,
Sure, we’re not huge fans of Justin Bieber’s music, but it’s a sad day in the automotive world when the pop phenom is gifted a six-figure Fisker Karma, made by arguably the best car designers in the world, and then proceeds to ruin the car by chroming it out and placing LEDs under the fuscia, while rolling on black rims.
Celebrity news, or shall we say stalker, site has caught the Biebs rolling around in his Karma with his near-celebrity-almost-a-singer girlfriend, Selena Gomez at a Chick-fil-A. Check out the video above to see reactions to Bieber and his now hideous Fisker Karma, which is actually illegal in California (and that’s not because of the paint.)

Ask Andru: How can I make my iPad louder?

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Editorial, Features, Handhelds, Videos,
In today's Ask Andru column, we get a question about an issue with the iPad that we've actually experienced ourselves for years. Ever since the release of the original iPad, it's been painfully obvious that the speaker on the Apple tablet isn't exactly up to snuff. It's fine if you're somewhere quiet, but go somewhere that has any ambient noise, and all of a sudden it's a challenge to enjoy any audio-based entertainment. So, on to the submitted question:
I love my new iPad, but I wish it were louder. It seems that everything about the new iPad is high-quality, with the exception of the speaker! Is there any way I can get more volume out of this thing?
I hear you! As I said earlier, the low volume issue has been around since the very first iPad. When the iPad 2 was released, the speaker grille was larger, and many assumed that this meant that the device would be louder. Unfortunately, despite the visual cue, the iPad 2 suffered from the same issue, and the new third-generation model (see our new iPad review) seems to have the exact same speaker as its predecessor. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to alleviate the frustration.

New iPad (3rd generation) review

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Features, Handhelds, Product Reviews, Videos,
The new iPad. When the third-generation Apple slate was announced, it gained a few new features, but lost a number. Hey, you can't blame Apple for simplifying things, right? Really, though, the new iPad is anything but a simple machine.
When Apple announced the new iPad, the company focused on a few key features that set the third-generation model apart from the iPad 2. The iPad product line is such a runaway success, that we felt it would be more appropriate to focus our review on the things that've changed or been added. After all, the iPad 2 is still a capable tablet, and Apple's still selling it, now at a discounted $399 for the 16 GB model, while the new iPad starts at $499 (although you can get it for less on Amazon.) So let's focus on what the new iPad (3rd generation) brings to the table, and if it's worth your attention. We're talking about things like the Retina display, 4G LTE, A5X SoC processor with quad-core graphics, and dictation. Is that stuff enough to warrant your attention? Let us take you through our iPad (3rd generation) review, and get these questions answered, shall we?
