We chat with Jabra's Morten Urup in this episode as he gives us the low-down on Jabra's latest headphones, focusing on Jabra Active, Jabra Clipper Bluetooth headphones, and Jabra Sport. 5-time Ironman competition winner Craig Alexander is actually running on a treadmill the entire time, showing how comfortable the Jabra Sport headphones are, and how the earbuds stay in your ears, even with rigorous activity. You can purchase any of these at Amazon. This was recorded at CES 2012.

Nike+ FuelBand aims to monitor your fitness
Posted by John Ball Categories: Accessories, Wearables
Nike isn't the first company to think of using a wristband or other device to monitor your fitness and better improve your life, having been beaten them to the punch by the FitBit and Jawbone UP. But still, what Nike brings to the table with its new FuelBand wristband is extraordinary. The Nike+ FuelBand actually displays how well you are doing throughout the day not only on your phone or other Bluetooth device, but also on the band itself.
The band on its own has a very sleek design with a 20 LED color dot-matrix display that shows how many “Points” you have earned during your workout, and another 100 white LEDs to give you feedback, time of day, and the like. The idea behind this is that the next time you work out you try to equal or get a higher score than before, pushing yourself to work out more and therefore become more physically fit. The activity wristband market is small but growing, and from what we can tell the Nike+ FuelBand may be the best bang for your buck. You can pre-order one now for $149.
Monster ClarityHD Micro Bluetooth speaker to sell for $219 this March
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, CES, CES 2012, Music, Wireless / WiFi

Monster is jumping into the high-quality Bluetooth loudspeaker game with the ClarityHD Micro, which they introduced at CES 2012. Similar to the Jawbone Jambox that's been so popular over the past couple of years, the ClarityHD Micro produces "higher definition sound" from your Bluetooth devices, and also allows you to take calls as well using its built-in omnidirectional microphone. So you can be streaming the latest from Justin Bieber from your iPhone, and when a call comes through, you can answer it and hold the conversation over the ClarityHD Micro as well. Convenient. Additionally, the speaker grills are magnetic and interchangeable, allowing the user to switch up the color and style. Expect to pay $219.95 when they ship worldwide this March.
Google releases Android 4.0.3 ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ partner update
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cell Phones, Google, Software
Google formally announced Android 4.0.3 on Friday, the base version of its "Ice Cream Sandwich" operating system that will be provided to partners.
Although Google described the new version as a mix of optimizations and bug fixes, the real significance is that the new OS will be the baseline version that will be rolled out to partners interested in developing phones and tablets around the new OS. It also appears to possibly include Facebook Ticker-like functionality.
"Going forward, we'll be focusing our partners on Android 4.0.3 as the base version of Ice Cream Sandwich," Xavier Ducrohet, the Android SDK Tech Lead, said in announcing the new version. "The new platform will be rolling out to production phones and tablets in the weeks ahead, so we strongly encourage you to test your applications on Android 4.0.3 as soon as possible."
In addition to incremental improvements in graphics, databases, spell-checking, Bluetooth, and other features, the new OS includes a new social stream API.

Jawbone UP wristband aims to get you exercising, eating, and sleeping better
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Apple

Jawbone, a company best known for making fashionable Bluetooth earpieces, announced today that it will sell an all-in-one smart fitness gadget that aims to help people totally improve their personal health and fitness.
The $99 device, called Jawbone UP, is a simple-looking wristband capable of collecting data about a person's activity throughout the day as well as sleep patterns at night.
Paired with Jawbone apps on Apple mobile devices, such as iPhones and iPads, Jawbone UP also collects and analyzes the data to help you make better sense of your habits and lifestyles, identifying, for example, the effects of exercise on your ability to sleep deeply. While there are some existing personal health and fitness devices that already track and analyze activity and sleep—one example is Fitbit Ultra ($99.95)—Jawbone UP adds intelligent feedback. It can remind you to move more during the day if it notices long periods of motionlessness, or gently vibrate to wake you at the optimal point in your sleep cycle.
2011 Holiday Gift Guide: Zomm Bluetooth smartphone leash
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Cell Phones, Features, Wireless / WiFi, Family, Women, Men, Techies, Teens, Under $100, Under $250, Under $500
We've spent some time with the Zomm "wireless leash" and have come away impressed by the simplicity of the device, as it's one of those things that make you wonder why a product like it hasn't been available until now. With that, we thought it would be a good inclusion in our 2011 Holiday Gift Guide. The Zomm can be attached to your keychain, and connects to your smartphone over Bluetooth. Once paired, it becomes your wireless alarm system for your phone. For example, if you walk away from your phone, Zomm will sound a notification alarm and start vibrating, letting you know that you've left your device more than 30 feet away. This way, you don't leave a restaurant without your phone, or spend forever looking for it because you left it in the car (or, that you are in your car driving and left your phone at home!) Cool enough, but it does more.
Zomm also has an integrated speaker and microphone, so it also acts as a hands-free calling device. If your phone rings, Zomm will ring as well, and you just press the Z button to take the call without having to fish around for your phone while driving. Zomm also has a built-in panic alarm. Hold down the Z button and the alarm will go off. Continue holding it, and the Zomm will use the Bluetooth connection to your phone to dial 911, and it will let you speak with the authorities right from the Zomm device. This is seriously a cool piece of technology that is a must-have for those people who constantly leave their smartphones behind in cabs and restaurants, or just anyone who wants an extra layer of security with them at all times. You can get a Zomm from Amazon for $76.

Bleeding Edge TV 392: Belkin Bluetooth Keyboard Folio for iPad 2
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Full Episodes, Gizmatic, Accessories, Cell Phones, Features, Home Entertainment, Podcasts, Videocasts, Videos
We chat with Belkin about their Keyboard Folio in this episode, shot at GDGT Seattle 2011. The Belkin Keyboard Folio is a Bluetooth iPad 2 keyboard that folds into a case. The keys are TruType, which means that they aren't mushy like a lot of other iPad keyboards, and instead feel like real laptop keys. When you're done, the keyboard tucks away, and the folio acts as a protective case. It also has adjustable angles to maximize viewing and typing modes. You can grab one for $99.
