OutKast Recording Solo Records

OutKastOutKast stars Big Boi and Andre 3000 are working on solo albums.

The group's producer Mr. DJ has revealed the pair are at Stankonia Studios in Atlanta recording material for their own projects and not an OutKast album, after the duo announced they will reform to play 40 festivals this year. Mr. DJ told Revolt TV that Andre 3000 is set to release his debut solo album in coming months, while Big Boi is working on his third solo LP, the follow-up to 2012's Dangerous Lies and Vicious Rumors.

The producer suspects the duo, who are kicking off their tour by headlining Coachella in California this April, will reunite after the gigs and plan new material. "I get the feeling that the energy and camaraderie from the tour will bring everything full circle. We may make it back in for an album following that," he explained.

Jack White to Release New Solo Album?

Jack WhiteJack White has hinted he is finishing his next solo album.

The former White Stripes frontman teased fans during an online chat at the weekend on the website message board for his label, Third Man Records: "I'm producing two albums this month, and finishing them... One of them is mine."

It is believed he is referring to a solo album, which would follow-up his 2012 release Blunderbuss, which featured tracks including "Love Interruption," "Sixteen Saltines" and "Trash Tongue Talker."

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine last year, the 38-year-old musician mentioned that he had between 20 and 25 songs already written: "It's definitely not one sound. It's definitely several. Like you heard in Blunderbuss, there's many different styles there. I don't pick my style and then write a song. I just write whatever comes out of me, and whatever style it is is what it is, and it becomes something later."

Nicole Scherzinger to Sign $5 Million Deal

Nicole ScherzingerNicole Scherzinger is set to sign a $5 million record deal.

The X Factor judge, who first shot to fame with the Pussycat Dolls, will release her new solo album with Sony next year and is expected to rake in millions more from a string of commercial jobs.

"Nicole was the most popular member of the X Factor panel this year and is the real winner in terms of bankability. She is set to sign with Sony and can't wait to get back to her music, which took a back seat during X Factor," a source said.

Nicole also has new multi-million pound deals with fashion range Missguided and Herbal Essences on the cards.

It is set to be a big year for the 35-year-old but her biggest decision will be whether to return to the ITV talent show or stay focused on her music career. "She's torn between the two - she loves the show and loves working on it but is conflicted. She is taking time out at home with her family to decide what move is best to make," the source added.

Johnny Marr Enjoys Being a Solo Artist

Johnny MarrJohnny Marr is creating his own "archetype" with debut solo album.

The former Smiths guitarist admits he often disagreed with his former bandmate Morrissey, who was famously known for being a dominant force within the group, but is now enjoying having control over his career as he embarks on his first solo album.

The 49-year-old musician conceded that "you had two very different characters" in the band. "I suppose I like to have things my own way, but you don't think of guitar players as solo artists or collaborators. You're either the blood brother, standing together with your band members until death do us part, or you're they journeyman. But there is a world in between, which is being your own entity. Hopefully I'll end up being seen as my own archetype," he added to The Times.

After spending most of his teenage years in The Smiths - and splitting from the group aged 24 - Johnny had an "apprenticeship" in being a rock star as all of his peers were adults: "That time between 14 and 18 was very intense for me. I was around grown-ups all the time. I was in bands with men who had done things - taken loads of drugs and so on."

Gwen Stefani Wasn’t Serious About Going Solo

Gwen StefaniGwen Stefani's solo career was "never meant to be taken seriously."

The singer has reunited with her original band, No Doubt, for their new album, Push and Shove and despite having sold millions of copies of her two solo records, her heart always lay with her original band.

"It just feels so much more natural being back in this mode. The solo records allowed me to indulge my girly side but it was never meant to be taken seriously. It was just like an art project that kept going longer than I expected. The group never ended - we always knew we'd come back to make this album."

Gwen, 42, also said her rocker husband, Gavin Rossdale from Bush doesn't listen to her ska-pop group - which also includes Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont - as he doesn't like their style of music: "Oh, he's never been a fan of what we do. He's more into dark, indie stuff. But I'm not saying he doesn't think I'm amazing."

Gavin Rossdale: Nobody Cared About His Solo Album

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gossip, Reunions, Rock,

Gavin RossdaleGavin Rossdale says "nobody cared" about his solo career.

The Bush frontman formed new band Institute after the group originally split in 2002, and after that failed made a solo album, 2008's Wanderlust, but now admits it was a mistake.

"There were no fireworks. It was almost like the air being sucked out of a building. There was a side-project [Institute], and then a solo career, by default - that was almost a douche-bag route; who cares about singers making solo records? I needed to be in Bush again," Gavin told Classic Rock magazine, referring to Bush's break-up.

Bush had big hits with their albums Sixteen Stone, Razorblade Suitcase and The Science of Things, but split after guitarist Nigel Pulsford left and sales declined.

Jack White Improvised Entire Track

Jack WhiteJack White improvised one of the songs on his new record on the spot.

The singer is about to release his first solo album, Blunderbuss, and was keen to challenge himself, so invited some musicians over and composed one of the tracks spontaneously.

"I had six sessions musicians invited to come in in the morning, and I had no song, I had no idea, nothing. And I went in the room and I pretended like I had a song. I sat down at the piano and played a C chord and then an F and thought, 'I gotta write something. Right now, right now!' These aren't friends of mine, they're studio session musicians waiting for me to tell them what to play. That forced me to do something I would never have done!" he told NPR.

Jack - who previously fronted The White Stripes - recorded the album with a number of different musicians, both session players and friends, including an all female band and an all male band, and was interested by how the dynamic of the recordings changed depending on the sex of the players.

The former guitarist said he’s recording the last song for his debut solo album - which will feature a number of guest vocalists - and can’t wait for the results to be released.

I’m not publicly talking about who it is until all the ink is dried on all the different contracts, but the rumors are out there - you sort of know what’s going on.”

Beyonce in If I Were a Boy

While it’s customary for artists to debut one single at a time, recently previewed two tracks from I Am…, her third solo album.

In a message posted on her website, the 26-year-old revealed that it took longer to create this “baby” than anything else she’s done in over 10 years. Then again, she did record over 70 songs for it.

“I have worked on this album for close to one year. I have taken the time so I can create my sound. Something that says who I am at this stage in my life. I have poured my heart and soul into it. It is my baby.  It is the most time I have spent on any project since my first records as a member of Destiny’s Child when I was 15 years old. I have recorded over 70 songs and have created a sound that reveals all of me. I am in a different place right now and I wanted people to see the many sides of me.  The music is upbeat for the dance, fun side and it is reflective, passionate and serious for the personal side.  I have taken risks here.  I am not afraid and my music will explain it all.  There is no label or tag on my sound.  It’s me and I am so excited to share it with the world on November 18.”
