Duffy

Welsh singer Duffy became a worldwide star in 2008 thanks to her debut album Rockferry, but admits she found it hard to deal with because working so much meant she was lonely.

"I was living out of a suitcase and always flying here and there. It was everything I'd ever dreamed of but there were times when I found it hard," she admitted. "I love my music and performing but some of the other demands terrified me. I am just a normal girl from Wales and always will be."

"Once in America I locked myself in my room and cried and I'm not that kind of girl. I am quite tough and can cope with almost anything but that time was horrible. I just wanted my mum with me," Duffy recalled. "I remember feeling as though things were going to fall apart. I don't know if it was a borderline breakdown -- but it was a hard time."

Duffy next to record Bond theme song?

Duffy James Bond themeDuffy may be the voice behind the next James Bond theme. Work has already started on the follow-up to Quantum of Solace, starring as the British spy, and one of the film’s producers wants the Welsh Duffy to record the title song.

Producer Michael G. Wilson told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “I would love to get to sing the next tune. I think she is wonderful. Amy Winehouse would be good too.
“We have started work on the new film, which I can’t say anything about. Daniel Craig is very keen to get going.”

Back to Black singer Amy Winehouse was due to submit a track for Quantum of Solace with producer Mark Ronson, but sessions were stopped as she reportedly “wasn’t ready” to record.  Another Way To Die, performed by Jack White of The White Stripes and soul singer Alicia Keys, was later chosen as the theme song.

Duffy, whose song Mercy picked up the PRS Most Performed Work prize at the Ivor Novello Awards - has revealed she is to make her film debut, although admits she isn’t too enthusiastic about it.  She reportedly said: “I’m making a movie. It’ll probably be rubbish.” If Duffy does sing the theme for the next James Bond film she will be the third Welsh artist to contribute to the spy series, after Tom Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey.

2009 Grammy Award Winners

Alison Krauss and Robert Plant

Lil’ Wayne may have had the most nominations going in, but he wasn’t the biggest winner coming out.

Next to Rihanna and Chris Brown, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss were the biggest newsmakers of the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. The collaboration between the Led Zeppelin lead singer and the bluegrass artist earned the duo five awards last night including Album of the Year for Raising Sand and Record of the Year. Prior to yesterday, Plant, 60, had only racked up one Grammy in his career. (Krauss, on the other hand, is now up to 26.)
