Eminem Wins Artist of the Year at YouTube Awards

Eminem was crowned Artist of the Year at the YouTube awards.
The 41-year-old rapper walked away with the gong at the ceremony held in New York City Sunday night, while Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" won the YouTube Phenomenon award. The Video of the Year award went to the South Korean girl band Girls' Generation for their song, "I Got A Boy," while DeStorm Power received the Innovation of the Year prize. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis received the Breakthrough of the Year gong for their new anthem "Same Love."
Jason Schwartzman and musician Reggie Watts were presiding the first ever YouTube ceremony, which featured artists such as Lady Gaga and M.I.A making live music videos directed by the awards' creator Spike Jonze. The event, which was streamed live on the video sharing website, saw Lady Gaga perform her new single "Dope" for the first time.
Nominees were selected by the amount of YouTube views, likes, comments and subscription figures for different artists.

Paul McCartney Named Artist of the Year

Paul McCartney has been named Artist of the Year at the inaugural Ultimate Classic Rock Awards.
The 69-year-old musician beat off strong competition from Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, Chickenfoot's Sammy Hagar and Alice Cooper to take home the honour with 34 per cent of the vote in the poll.
"The 69-year-old McCartney had his (meat-free) plate full for all of 2011. Whether it was releasing re-issues of his two truest solo efforts, McCartney and McCartney II, collaborating with the New York City Ballet, producing a film marking the 10-year anniversary of 9/11 or embarking on his huge On the Run tour, he pretty much did it all. Congratulations, Paul!" said a statement on ultimateclassicrock.com.
AC/DC were the big winners with wins in three categories including Best Reissue or Archival Release, Best DVD and Best Commercial while Chickenfoot received two gongs, Album of the Year for Ill and Song of the Year for "Big Foot." Slash took home the Best Live Album gong, with his former band Guns 'N Roses voted Tour of the Year and Ozzy Osbourne won Best Box Set. 230,000 votes were cast in the 2011 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards.

Michael Jackson Wins Four American Music Awards

The late Michael Jackson was honored with four American Music Awards (AMAs) last night. In addition to wins for Favorite Soul/ R&B Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Male Vocalist, the singer won Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Favorite Soul/R&B Album for his Number Ones compilation.
Jermaine Jackson, who accepted the prizes on his brother’s behalf, paid tribute to Michael while praising his life philosophy.
Wearing a single white glove in tribute to Michael, Jermaine said: “It’s not just about the winnings, the awards. It’s mainly the message. The message Michael had will live on forever. He saw good in everyone. Start with love and let’s love each other.”
