Although Mariah Carey’s original performance of “I’ll Be There” was unplugged, yesterday’s shaky attempt had some searching for plugs. And don’t think she didn’t know it.

Hours after Michael Jackson’s memorial service, the singer turned to Twitter to apologize to her fans.

“Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me. One thing I know is, we will never really have to say goodbye to MJ. His legacy lives on through his music and the millions of people he inspired with his timeless music. He will be forever in our hearts.”

Alright. We forgive you.

Lauryn HillAn undisclosed health issue has forced the cancellation of Lauryn Hill’s entire European tour.

The Fugees’ former lead singer had been scheduled to headline the Stockholm Jazz Festival on July 15. Performances in Sweden, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Italy, France and Austria were to follow.

Hill’s agent gave no further details while contacting festival organizers earlier this week.

Those shows would have come nearly 10 years after the debut of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. That album went on to see five Grammys after its release in 1998.

Since that time, the R&B singer has spent most of her time out of the limelight. Lauryn and her boyfriend, Rohan Marley, currently have five children together.

Since I’m admittedly not a huge country music fan, I really didn’t know that much about Sugarland other than the song they did for Good Morning America. Then I heard Jennifer Nettles’ performance of “Stay” at this year’s Grammys and was absolutely wowed. Her voice and delivery gave me chills.

So when I heard the duo recently covered ‘s “Sex on Fire,” I just had to watch. It was not a disappointment.

Eminem

So Eminem’s already released a new single, debuted a tabloid-worthy video and appeared in public at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. What could possibly be next for the Oscar-winning rapper? The performance.

On May 31, Eminem will mark his musical return to the stage at the 2009 MTV Movie Music Awards. The 8 Mile star was the first person - outside of host - announced for the 18th annual event.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed which song he will be performing, it wouldn’t be unlike the network to park Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears in the front row for an awkward “We Made You” number.

The awards ceremony will come almost two weeks after the debut of Eminem’s new album, .
