Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars

Kelly Clarkson wants to work with Bruno Mars. The American Idol winner is a huge fan of the "Grenade" hitmaker and would love to work with him on a version of "Somethin' Stupid," a track covered by Frank and Nancy Sinatra in 1967 and by Nicole Kidman and Robbie Williams in 2001.

"I want to recut 'Somethin' Stupid' with Bruno Mars or [country singer] Blake Shelton," she said.

Metallica

Metallica paid tribute to Green Day after replacing them at a festival. The heavy metal group stepped in for the "Oh Love" punk band at the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans, after they cancelled all forthcoming dates due to frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's ongoing rehab.

Two songs into their set, Metallica singer James Hetfield told the crowd: ''We! Are! Green Day! - Except a little taller!" He later added, "You're hoping Green Day are going to show up, right? So am I. They're getting help. They're getting it sorted out. The world needs them." He also dedicated the track "Battery" to the front man, saying: "This one's for Billie."

Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta's Christmas albumJohn Travolta and Olivia Newton-John releasing a Christmas album.

The former co-stars are in talks of recording the album - which will feature a follow-up to their famous Grease! track "You're The One That I Want" titled "I Think You Might Like It" - and plan to give it an "intimate" feel.

"My desire was to make this Christmas an intimate album, not something too ostentatious or showy. I wanted people to be able to play it around the house or in the car during the holidays, and make us part of your celebration," John, 58, said.

Olivia, 64, also enjoyed the experience of being back in the studio with her on-screen sweetheart as she feels the pair - who played lovers Sandy and Danny in the hit movie - have bonded since filming together back in 1978: "John and I have always connected. That's never gone away. When we're together, we have a good laugh and feel bonded to one another. We've been through some amazing experiences together."

Lady AntebellumLady Antebellum have recorded a Christmas album.

The country group - made up of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood - is following up Own The Night with a festive LP entitled On This Winter's Night, which will be released on October 22. It will feature 11 traditional Christmas songs and one original song.

Dave reveals the album was recorded in the summer, and to get into a holiday spirit they decorated the studio: "We recorded this album in two sections, but both times were in the summertime. It is always weird to be in the studio working on Christmas music in June and July, so we decorated the entire studio, we really did. We brought out lights, fake trees and decorated the place to get in the Christmas spirit. You'd leave the studio, and it'd be 100 degrees out in Nashville, but nonetheless, a great experience."

Alice CooperLady Gaga has given her seal of approval to Alice Cooper's version of "Born This Way."

Shock rock legend Alice has recently started playing his own heavy version of the "Bad Romance" singer's track live, and said she was impressed when she heard it.

"Gaga loved it, she emailed us - she's in Australia right now - and said she loved it, I just thought it was such a great track, and the lyrics, 'My momma told me when I was young / she did my hair and put my lipstick on,' for Alice Cooper to sing that, it's funny," Alice said.

The "Under My Wheels" singer also explained he prepared the song especially to appeal to the young crowd at last weekend's Bonnaroo festival: "We figured 15 to 25 was probably the average age out there, and I was thinking of a song that would be of their generation, so I said, 'What about "Born This Way"?' Because that song could be a rock song, it just needed a different attitude."

Maroon 5

Maroon 5 makes workers "more productive." A new study carried out by online music concierge service Songza discovered that half of respondents believe the group's hit single "Moves Like Jagger" makes them do better at work, while 42 per cent of those surveyed rely on Gotye's "Somebody I Used to Know" to give them an early morning boost.

By contrast, just over a quarter of people claim the Glee cast's cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin" provokes "deep feelings of resentment and anger."

Johnny Depp and Marilyn MansonMarilyn Manson and Johnny Depp found covering "You're So Vain" "amusing."

The rocker and the actor have collaborated on a version of Carly Simon's classic song - which features as bonus material on the "Beautiful People" hitmaker's new album Born Villain - and Manson thinks the track is a perfect representation of how people think of himself and his pal, who plays drums and guitar on the recording.

"We started jamming - I don't even like to use that word because I think it sounds too musical and I consider myself to be more of a problem-maker than a musician. We ended up thinking, what could we do that would be really amusing to both of us because of what people think about us? 'You're So Vain' really says it all," he explained.

Marilyn Manson's last two albums, Eat Me, Drink Me and The High End of Low, received disappointing reviews and poor sales, and the singer admits he went through a "confusing" time but is now confident with himself again.

Justin Bieber and Taylor SwiftJustin Bieber and Taylor Swift have made a "beautiful" record together.

The "Baby" hitmaker has recorded a track with the "Love Story" singer, and though few details about the collaboration have been made public, Justin's girlfriend Selena Gomez has heard the song and is very impressed.

"It's beautiful. I don't know if it's going to make it on the record, but it is beautiful," she said.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old star admitted she has no plans to return to the recording studio any time soon as she is currently focused on her acting career: "We're maybe going to do some fun remixes, but right now it's just about movies."

Selena was thrilled recently when she learned Lea Michele will perform her track "Love You Like A Love Song" on a forthcoming episode of Glee and admits the inclusion of her track came as a surprise: "I didn't even know and my label didn't even know it was happening. Cory Monteith texted me a video of someone singing it and I was like, 'Wait, that's Lea!' I asked him if they were on set and he sent me back a smiley face. So that's how we found out."

Kermit and Courtney Love

Courtney Love has accused The Muppets of "raping" the memory of Kurt Cobain.

The Hole singer feels the puppet group was disrespectful to her former husband - who committed suicide in 1994 - with their cover of his song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in their recent comedy film.

She told website TMZ she thought the version of the Nirvana track, performed in the style of a barbershop quartet, was "raping" Kurt's legacy.
