(NOTE: Don’t try watching the video, just close your eyes and listen.)
Fans walked out of Whitney Houston‘s concert at London’s O2 arena last night because of her poor performance.
The singer’s Nothing But Love tour has been beset with problems since she came to Europe, and last night she admitted her voice wasn’t in the best condition as she failed to hit high notes and abandoned her song “The Greatest Love of All” halfway through.
After a shaky rendition of her most famous song “I Will Always Love You,” Whitney said of her voice: “She don’t want to come, my soprano friend. Sometimes the old girl sings, but not tonight. I want to do it, but she doesn’t want to. She’s getting a little - temperamental, even.”

M.I.A. Taking a Total Departure

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Upcoming Releases, Dance, Electronic,

M.I.A.‘s new album will be “a total departure” from her established sound.
Producer Diplo, who collaborated with M.I.A. (real name Maya Arulpragasam) on her breakthrough single “Paper Planes,” promises he has drawn from a well of diverse musical influences to create tracks for the Sri Lankan born singer’s third album. “On the new record I’ve just done for her - which might be the single - I sampled a bunch of gospel-y, old-school, Alabama, weird, Sacred Harp singers,” he said.
“It’s turning into an Animal Collective kind of record, which represents a total departure from what you would expect from her, but that’s where her head was at. She just had a baby so she was on this elated mood. With her it’s always sort of random, whatever you think was not going to be productive - that recording ended up being a really s****y demo and then it turned into a big song.”

Lady Gaga Coming Back to American Idol

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Performances, Pop,

Lady Gaga might not be appearing on the Today show until July 9, but you’ll be able to catch her on network TV long before then.
The singer recently announced via Twitter that she’ll be hitting up FOX next month. “See you on American Idol. MAY 5th, Little Monsters.”
It’s not clear at this time which track she might performing that night. It’s also not known whether singing is the only thing she’ll be doing for the program.
This will, of course, not be Gaga’s first visit to the Idol stage. She also performed “Poker Face” in April 2009.

Carrie Underwood has just been named Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards.
The singer made history at the Las Vegas ceremony last night after becoming the first woman to win the prestigious accolade twice, beating off competition from Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and the Zac Brown Band.
Upon accepting the honor, Carrie - who was also given a special Triple Crown award in recognition of her scooping Entertainer of the Year, Top Female Vocalist and Top Newcomer in the course of her career - said: “I think I just got make-up all over Brad Paisley... Thank you, God, praise the Lord.”
Trio Lady Antebellum were the big winners at the ceremony, held at the MGM Grand hotel, taking home five prizes, including Song of the Year and Single Record of the Year for their hit “Need You Now” - with both categories giving them two prizes as they also wrote the track.

Public Enemy have lowered the amount of money they are trying to raise to help fund their next album.
Last year, the hip-hop group - consisting of Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Professor Griff and DJ Lord - revealed they had signed a deal with fan investment site SellaBand and had expected their devoted followers to donate $250,000.
However, they have now been forced to slash expectations to $70,000 after the company went bankrupt in February.

Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters resurrecting The Wall

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours, Rock,

Pink Floyd founding member Roger Waters is taking The Wall back on tour.
The former bassist in the psychedelic rock band has previously staged the band’s show - in which the album The Wall is performed in its entirety while a physical wall is built between the band and the audience - 31 times since it was recorded in 1979, but is now about to embark upon a huge North American tour in support of the album’s 30th anniversary.
“30 Years ago when I wrote The Wall I was a frightened young man,” Waters told Spinner. “Well, not that young - I was 36 years old. It took me a long time to get over my fears. Anyway, in the intervening years it has occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with its concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, whatever! All these issues and ‘isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life.”

Whitney Houston has hit back at “ridiculous” rumors she was hospitalized because of drug use.
The “Million Dollar Bill” singer was forced to postpone four shows on the European leg of her world tour this week - when she was admitted to hospital in Paris, France, with an upper respiratory infection - but has denied claims she has relapsed.
Whitney - who was discharged on Wednesday - said: “I’m feeling great. I’m just ready to move on and continue my world tour.”
Asked about drug use speculation, she replied: “Ridiculous. At this point, I just don’t respond. I don’t even read it.”
