Crystal Renn Blasts Airbrushing

Plus-size supermodel was horrified after bosses airbrushed 30lbs off her frame for a campaign poster.

Crystal, who is a size 10, says the pictures for the Fashion for Passion advertisements no longer look like her because her appearance has been altered so much.

“They brushed about 30lbs off my body. I sat there in silence for so long when I saw the pictures. I couldn’t believe what they’d done. It didn’t look like me. Don’t cut inches off my thighs. Don’t make me a size two when I’m a 10. It’s totally misleading. Fashion should be about a beautiful girl in beautiful clothes, not this size obsession. It’s dangerous. But if I have a zit or cellulite, take it off!”

Although Crystal, 28, went on a drastic diet and exercise regime for years to maintain a supermodel figure “to the point I got so ill it became difficult to walk,” she says her career only improved after she put on weight.

The supermodel - who has appeared in French Vogue and on the cover of American Glamour - explained, “After a year, I decided to change my life and be happy with who I am naturally to gain success not only in modeling but also in life.”
The photographer Nicholas Routzen commented: “I did nothing that I wouldn’t do to anyone. I’m paid to make women look beautiful.”
