Nicolas Cage Countersued By Business Manager

Nicolas CageMovie star recently admitted to having some serious financial troubles, suing his business manager because of his missing funds. But the manager - Samuel Levin, CPA - has filed a countersuit against the actor.

Levin said that Cage “had already squandered tens of millions of dollars,” when he was hired, and that the National Treasure star owed “millions” in “income taxes, with no funds available to pay the tax debt.”

The countersuit claims that Levin told Cage he needed to make at least $30 million per year to continue living in his usual manner. Jon Gosselin Wants Out of His TLC Contract

Jon GosselinThis probably isn’t the first time someone tried to cite a case of stupidity as a legal defense. , calling himself “an unsophisticated father of eight,” says he was in no position to sign a contract with TLC. He had no lawyer or manager to guide him, you see, so he can hardly be held accountable for putting his own legal name on legal paperwork.

Gosselin said the deal was bad from the start (so why did he continue for so many seasons…?), they only pulled down $2,000 per episode. He even attacked the cable network on another front, saying that TLC violated child labor laws. TLC denies these claims and states that Gosselin did have a lawyer at the contract meetings.

On top of using her image without acquiring approval, the Media5 ad has “Vacant” written in large letters across the photo of her partying.

“Paris has a proven ability to laugh at herself. We assume that the agency has taken care of the rights to the image of Paris, but we will ask the question. We’re not trying to offend anyone,” spokesperson for Media 5, Adam McGregor, said.

Someone Else Sues Michael Jackson

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Child Stars, Legal Issues,

Julien's Auction House Michael Jackson collection has even more legal trouble dead than alive - and that’s really saying something.

It all began when Julien’s Auction House put around 170 items up on the block, a Michael Jackson collection that was bid upon by one Richard Lapointe. The auction, however, was canceled. As a result, Lapointe is suing the Jackson estate and the auction house.

The suit contends that Lapointe was the only bidder on 82 items in the collection, and further mentions that he might have been the highest bidder on 88 more items. Since Julien’s sent confirmation of Lapointe’s bid on these items, he thinks he’s entitled to some money.

Angelina Jolie

A disgruntled fan has filed suit against the Lili Claire Foundation. The charitable organization provides help to children suffering from medical problems and their families, but they might soon be shelling out money on behalf of the movie star.

The man who filed suit claims he won a meeting with Jolie at an auction, an adventure that cost him a cool thirty grand ($30,000). The only trouble is, he never got to meet the star…and he never got his money back, either.

Now that two years have passed, the fan has decided to take legal action against the charitable foundation. Think they could get Angie to pop over and cool his ire a little?

Jamie Lynn Spears Lookalike Sues LAX

Jamie Lynn SpearsA good celebrity impersonator can make thousands of dollars an hour just for dressing up and acting like the world’s biggest stars. Adessa Eskeridge played only once, but hopes to get a staggering seven-figure paycheck for her work.

That’s right: she’s suing LAX (that’s the Los Angeles International Airport) for the cool sum of $2 million. Eskeridge was used by police as a Jamie Lynn decoy in September of 2008, though she claims they did so without her knowledge or consent.

Eskeridge’s lawyer claims that she was “not given any details as to the nature of the task or of the potential danger involved. She simply followed the instructions of the police as most good citizens would do.” He says his client was “deceived and manipulated” by the police, and “suffered and continues to suffer great humiliation” from this event. He says the situation is tantamount to a “false arrest.”

They’re requesting the 2 mill, but Eskeridge’s lawyer made it clear that she’s “willing to consider a reasonable and fair settlement that fully compensates her for the humiliation, fear and harassment.”

So, pay up, LAX, and the problem will magically go away.

John McCain in the Spotlight

John McCain

For a man who seems to shun celebrity, certainly has been in the media a lot lately - and little of the coverage has to do with his policy or his plans for the country. The republican will now get more attention for a wholly different reason…he’s being sued.

McCain’s political strategy, thus far, has been to undermine presidential competitor by calling him that dirtiest of all words - a celebrity. In the ads, McCain shows clips of Obama with his adoring public while the Jackson Browne hit “Running on Empty” plays in the background. Here’s the problem: McCain never got permission to use the song.
