Despite their publicists squashing initial reports of Reese Witherspoon’s and Jake Gyllenhaal’s break-up, the sad truth is that the A-list couple is no more.
“They needed time to figure it out and they were on different coasts. When they were finally together, they talked it out and decided they’re not going to be together anymore,” a source said.
Don’t be looking for any sordid affairs here—one source claims that the split was friendly and that no one else played a part in it: “There are no other people involved. The relationship just ended. It just fizzled. But they also wanted to be careful and private about it because of Reese’s kids.”
So what of those wedding rumors sparked by Reese’s supposed engagement ring? Apparently, according to the source, Jake never popped the question!

Another fairytale romance has come to an end.
According to People, actors Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have officially split up. This surprising news comes approximately two years after the former Rendition costars started dating. No reason was provided by the magazine’s source.
Although their relationship did have its rough patches, many thought this Hollywood romance would go the distance. Earlier this year in Elle magazine, the 33-year-old Four Christmases star was still praising Jake. ““He’s fabulous. He really is a fantastic guy,” Reese declared.
Witherspoon, who has been the subject of engagement rumors with Gyllenhaal before, filed for divorce from Ryan Phillippe in 2006 after seven years of marriage. The former couple share two children together: Ava, 10, and Deacon, 6.

The news comes after a lot of speculation over the past few days. Back on November 15, the hotel heiress was spotted at event with ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos. Although pals initially denied a breakup, sources have since confirmed to People that the relationship is over.

Joe Jonas Responds: “I Never Cheated”

With the news of his relationship with Camilla Belle now out, Joe Jonas has been forced to go on the defense.
In a recent post on the Jonas Brothers’ MySpace page, the 19-year-old tries to address many of the questions currently being posed. While he doesn’t deny leaving Taylor Swift for another girl (he actually doesn’t even mention the country singer by name), he does deny ever cheating on her. Jonas also claims the infamous “27-second” phone call wasn’t his fault. (Apparently he thought Swift would had something more to say after hearing “I’m interested in someone else.”)

Relationship Over for Simon Cowell and Terri Seymour

Did Terri Seymour really think she could ever change Simon Cowell’s spots?
This past weekend, a rep for the American Idol judge confirmed that Cowell and his girlfriend had gone their separate ways. The two - who began dating after he was interviewed by the Extra correspondent - had been together for six years.
According to reports, Simon’s views on marriage and kids were ultimately the factor behind the split. That’s a claim Cowell’s spokesperson doesn’t deny. “In the past Terri has said that she wants kids but that just isn’t Simon. Nobody else is involved, certainly not on Simon’s side,” Max Clilfford stated.
But even though the 48-year-old isn’t willing to change his stance on weddings (or boxy haircuts…or tight shirts), he doesn’t have a problem shelling out a little dough. As a parting gift, Cowell reportedly bought his 34-year-old ex a new Los Angeles home. Who knew he was such a nice guy?

What never officially existed is now apparently over. Attention tweens of the world—Joe Jonas is now back on the market.
According to Us Weekly, the Jonas Brothers performer and his country singer girlfriend are now over. Sources claim the 19-year-old broke up with Taylor Swift last Friday over the phone.
Back in August, the couple were seen double-dating with Nick Jonas and his girlfriend, Selena Gomez. The two (as pictured above) even sat next to each other - in public - at the 2008 Video Music Awards.
While I’m sure Swift could easily find another man soon, Joe supposedly broke the 18-year-old’s heart. Sounds like good material for a new album!

So much for the rumors of a fourth girlfriend. It looks like Hugh Hefner may soon be starting all over again—period.
Despite constant denials about changes within the Playboy Mansion, Holly Madison recently admitted to TMZ that she is no longer the Hef. This news comes just as the fifth season of The Girls Next Door is getting underway.
Over the past few weeks, the buzz around the trio’s status has really started to pick up. Paparazzi photos of Holly Madison partying with illusionist Criss Angel haven’t helped the matter. Neither has Kendra Wilkinson’s supposed relationship with Philadelphia Eagles star Hank Baskett.

Although he could have purposely left things vague, John Mayer made an unexpected move this weekend: He spoke to the media about Jennifer Aniston.
Up until recently, Mayer and his ex had decided to let their pictures do all of the talking. But the hounding photographers and the rumors of infidelity eventually forced the 30-year-old to crack.
And while I’m sure Jennifer wouldn’t have chosen to speak to a random paparazzo, she should be happy to know that the exasperated singer was frank, yet still kind.

Rose McGowan and Robert Rodriguez Split

UPDATE: Rose’s rep denies that there has been an end to either their relationship or their joint film projects.
Less than a year after becoming engaged, Rose McGowan and Robert Rodriguez have supposedly called it quits. Just days ago, it was reported the Charmed actress would take on the remake of Red Sonja, a film to be produced by Rodriguez.
Rose first met a then-married Robert when the two worked on the film Grindhouse. Although the couple denied the accusations, it was rumored that McGowan caused the end of her director’s 16-year marriage.
During their relationship, the Planet Terror star has had her name linked to several Rodriguez projects, the most notable one being Barbarella. Unfortunately, it’s controversy behind the Jane Fonda update that may have brought their bliss to a grinding halt.
