Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams

On paper, Mandy Moore’s love life has been just as successful as Jennifer Love Hewitt’s. Let’s just hope this engagement fares a bit better.

Despite breaking up last summer, 24-year-old Mandy Moore and musician Ryan Adams are now engaged. The two started dating back in December 2007 only to call it quits by July. At that time, Adams, 34, told OK! magazine that the media spotlight was just too much for him.

“Unfortunately I am allergic to paparazzi and have found the best antidote to that sort of nonsense is staying behind the guitar and typewriter, staying close to my support group of friends and band mates and not engaging in activities that prevent me from taking care of myself or others,” he said. “I found the entire speculation and subsequent photographs and intrusions terrifying and only wish to live as normal a life as possible, so that I might always remain punk as f*** AND sober.”

Courtney Love

When I look at this picture of Courtney Love from yesterday’s Elle Style Awards, so many questions come to mind:

  1. Is it the lack of a bra…or just an unflattering angle?
  2. When did the Hole singer morph into Madonna?
  3. Why the heck was she chosen as Elle‘s Woman of the Year?

Joaquin Phoenix recently made the shocking announcement that he was leaving his film career behind and subsequently began growing a wild, untended beard and letting his brown locks hang long. He also seems to be launching a new career as a rapper.

The actor offered some insight into his new look in .

“It’s been important for me to just do something that’s extreme—that really separates me from that public Joaquin Phoenix persona,” he explained. His look certainly is extreme. But then the actor-turned-something else added, “Maybe I’m just lazy.”

Many have said the Phoenix career switch-up is all a hoax, part of some sort of promotional effort for a documentary which, it’s said, is being created by and Phoenix. A lackluster performance given by Phoenix seems to confirm the rumors. By the way, the video of Phoenix falling off the stage is still being bandied about the Internet.

Rihanna and Chris Brown

The drama for Rihanna and Chris Brown continues one day after their Grammy Awards cancellations. Here is where things stand at this point:

Usher and Tameka FosterUPDATE: Tameka reportedly went into cardiac and respiratory arrest during a liposuction procedure.

An unexpected matter forced singer Usher to cancel a performance over the weekend. But unlike in the Rihanna/Chris Brown situation, this issue was not police related.

The 30-year-old had been slated to sing at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party on Saturday evening. But after calls from both and his mother, the record mogul was forced to deliver the bad news: the performance was going to be scrapped due to a “serious illness in the family.”

According to Access Hollywood, Usher’s wife, Tameka Foster, experienced complications after undergoing a plastic surgery procedure in Brazil. Although it’s not known which specific treatment the 37-year-old was supposedly seeking, Foster gave birth to their second child together back in December. Access claimed that a neurosurgeon from LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was being flown to the South American country to assist.

It has been rumored that Foster will appear on the second season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

DescriptionAs we approach the 81st Annual Academy Awards, it’s time to update you on one of the most talked about couples from last year’s event.

Although they weren’t as well known as say, Brangelina, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová made an impression on the few who watched that broadcast. (The costars of Once, were welcomed back onstage when they weren’t able to finish their acceptance speeches.) Unfortunately, the two are no longer smiling as brightly as they were that night.

Miley Cyrus

UPDATE: You can read Miley’s second attempt at an apology here.

I’m starting to wonder—does Miley Cyrus just have a sensitivity chip missing? (Thank you, Jennifer, for letting me borrow that line.)

Last summer, the 16-year-old denied having any beef with Selena Gomez despite a video mocking the young actress. Now the Disney star is somehow denying she offended an entire group of people.

After a picture of a slanted-eye Cyrus came out, most recognized the idiotic move Miley - and her friends - made. But instead of apologizing, as one Asian American advocacy group hoped she would, the Disney star has chosen to take the defensive approach.

Sanjaya MalakarDuring his time on ’s sixth season, Sanjaya Malakar enjoyed a unique sort of fame. His biggest critics said he couldn’t sing a lick - but nothing could sway his fans from their die-hard devotion. He made waves with his changing hairdo and seemingly against-the-odds run on the show…but does Malakar have a few waves to make for the series yet?

“I realized that I had a story that no other past contestant has said,” recently told Access Hollywood.

The realization led him to pen the autobiographical Dancing To The Music In My Head, which will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the world of Idol, told from Malakar’s point of view. A companion CD of the same name will be released at the same time.

UPDATE: Sources are now claiming that Phoenix’s new rapping career is an elaborate hoax.

Either we’re all being punked…or this will be the most interesting film about a “musician” since Dewey Cox.

On Friday night, Joaquin Phoenix - who announced last year that he was giving up acting for music - put on his very first vocal performance before a Las Vegas crowd. Instead of Johnny Cash, clubgoers at LAVO were treated to three songs from an entirely different type of genre: rap.
