2011 Golden Globe Nominations (TV)

Boardwalk Empire

The Golden Globe contenders for the 2010-11 season were officially announced Tuesday morning in Beverly Hills by Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel and Blair Underwood.

Last year's Best Comedy Series winner, Glee, lead all television programs with a total of five nominations. Five series -- 30 Rock, Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, The Good Wife and Mad Men -- tied for second place with three nods each.

Here are some of the notable omissions/inclusions from this year's list of nominees:

  • The Good Wife was the only non-cable series to be recognized for Best Drama.
  • The Walking Dead replaced that other horror series (True Blood), giving AMC two nominations in the Drama category.
  • The limitations of the Best Supporting Actor category meant only two acting noms for the cast of Modern Family.
  • Jennifer Love Hewitt has found herself pitted against Claire Danes ... and Dame Judi Dench.

The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards -- hosted again by Ricky Gervais -- will air Jan. 16 on NBC.

  • Hoarders (A&E, 10 P.M.): "A home in an upscale area is filled with items inside and out, and the owner has a homeless person living in the front yard." The owner's certain he could make use of that homeless guy some day.

Monday Ratings: Surf’s Down for Hawaii Five-0

Has the tide gone down for CBS at 10:00? For the first time since its debut, Hawaii Five-0 was bested by Castle in the hour. ABC’s victory in that time slot helped the network take another double win (viewers and demos) on Monday.

Monday Ratings: Lie to Me an Improvement Over Lone Star

FOX’s decision to quickly replace Lone Star with veteran Lie to Me was validated in the ratings last night. Unfortunately, the move really didn’t make a difference in the overall rankings. ABC was still the winner in both the viewers and demos thanks to reality hit Dancing with the Stars.

Monday Ratings: Premiere Excitement Fades in Week 2

Are viewers already bored with the Monday schedule? Minus a few exceptions, the ratings chart this week was full of down arrows—including one for The Event, the series that has raised a lot of buzz for NBC. In the end, Dancing with the Stars’ ballroom action kept ABC on top of the viewers and the demos.

Monday Ratings: Dancing with the Stars a Winner for ABC

The first official night of the fall television season saw five new shows vying for our attention. Despite good starts from Hawaii Five-0, Mike & Molly and The Event, Dancing with the Stars remained strong for ABC. Meanwhile, Lone Star proved a position post-House doesn’t necessarily mean ratings gold.
