Reminder: Pushing Daisies Returns Tonight
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC,
Yes, the day has finally arrived…
Tonight Pushing Daisies fans can rejoice in the long-awaited, albeit brief, return of the delightfully quirky show. The ratings-starved program was shelved back in December and has been collecting dust ever since. This evening’s episode - plus the two to follow - will officially close the chapter on the program’s second season. (The July 21 DVD release will also do the same.)
Unaired episodes of Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money will then occupy the Saturday 10:00 PM shot following Daisies’ June 13 finale.
ABC Makes Room for Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC,
Months after pulling Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money off the air, ABC has had a change of heart. Kind of.
Even though it looked like fans would have to wait for the eventual DVDs to view unaired episodes, the network has chosen to broadcast the remaining hours. Unfortunately, all three shows will be placed on the week’s most undesirable night: Saturday. But hey - at least we’ll have something to watch on our weekends now, right?
Get your Tivos ready by the end of May. Pushing Daisies will run May 30 - June 13, Eli Stone will follow from June 20 - July 11 and Dirty Sexy Money will close shop between July 18 - August 8. The trio will all air @ 10:00.

Wednesday Ratings: Criminal Minds Leads the Pack
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Kids, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Ratings,
Despite a nice showing for NBC’s Muppets special, audiences had their sights set on criminals last night. CBS was #1 with the viewers and the demos once again.
8pm
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (7.5 million, 2.0/6 in 18-49) was down 800,000; Gary Unmarried (7.6 million, 2.3/7) only lost 400,000.
- Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa (7.4 million, 2.4/7) had the hour’s best demos.
- Secret Millionaire (6.7 million, 2.2/7) gave up a 1/2 million.
- The possible last episode of Pushing Daisies (4.8 million, 1.6/5) pushed away 200,000.
- CW’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show* (0.9/3) had 2.4 million glued to their television.

Wednesday Ratings: Secret Millionaire Not So Secret Anymore
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Ratings,
There’s nothing viewers like more than watching people give out money. Yesterday, FOX’s Secret Millionaire built upon last week’s numbers and won its hour in the demos. CBS, though, was the top network in both categories this Wednesday.
8pm
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (8.3 million, 2.2/7 in 18-49) hit a season high; Gary Unmarried (8 million, 2.4/7) maintained most if its lead-in.
- Secret Millionaire (7.2 million, 2.7/8) improved by 1/2 million.
- Pushing Daisies (5 million, 1.6/5) was up a notch.
- NBC‘s Little Spirit: Christmas In New York special (1.4/4) entertained 5 million.
- Stylista* (1.2 million, 0.4/1) was down slightly.

MONDAY 12/8)- A Charlie Brown Christmas (ABC, 8pm): “The gang mounts a holiday pageant as Charlie Brown bemoans Yuletide commercialism.” Sorry, Charlie. Not much has changed since 1965.
- Boston Legal (ABC, 9pm): Series finale. “Financial problems may force Crane Poole & Schmidt to be put up for sale.” If the economy keeps going the way it’s going, that might not be the only thing ABC has up for sale.
- Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9pm): “Alan considers early retirement when Evelyn offers to foot the bill for Jake’s college education.” After looking at his latest 401K statement, he then realizes that retirement won’t come anytime soon.
- The Hills (MTV, 10pm): “Whitney interviews for a job in New York City.” Top resume skill: Able to effectively communicate in short sentences.

Wednesday Ratings: Angels and Reindeers Score for CBS
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Kids, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Talk Shows, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Ratings,
CBS surprisingly did well yesterday without its usual Wednesday lineup. The network’s night of variety - Rudolph, Grammys, Heidi - ended up taking the night’s demos. Meanwhile, crime-free competition helped NBC pick up a rare win with the viewers.
8pm
- Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (4.2/12 in 18-49) drew in 11.7 million.
- Christmas in Rockefeller Center (2.2/6) had 10.4 million feeling festive.
- Approximately 6.7 million watched the debut of Secret Millionaire (2.3/7).
- Pushing Daisies (4.9 million, 1.5/4) was up 10%.
- Stylista* (0.5/1) registered 1.3 million.

ABC Cancels Dirty Sexy Money, Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cancellations,
What I feared would probably happen has now just come true. ABC has given the ax to Pushing Daisies. And Dirty Sexy Money. And Eli Stone.
Although an earlier draft of the midseason schedule hinted at this possibility, it was unclear at that time whether the shows were simply going on hiatus. Now we know the sophomore programs will wrap up production after 13 episodes. (If and when those hours will even air is another matter.) While no one is officially using the word “canceled,” it’s unlikely these titles will see any significant ratings boosts in the weeks to come.

Wednesday Ratings: Pushing Daisies Clinging to Life
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, House, Ratings,
As hard as it is for me to admit, it looks like my darling Pushing Daisies will soon be pushed out the door. Despite an Obama bump for its last outing, the show couldn’t maintain the audience. Yesterday’s episode even performed lower than the last unassisted show. CBS had a good evening though. Season high numbers for the two comedies gave the network wins in both categories last night.
8pm
- Bones (10.7 million, 3.1/9 in 18-49) easily won its hour.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (2.5/7) and Gary Unmarried (2.7/7) both attracted 8.1 million.
- Knight Rider (5.1 million, 1.5/4) lost 200,000.
- Pushing Daisies (4.9 million, 1.7/5) was off 1.9 million from the last episode.
- The finale of America’s Next Top Model (4.8 million, 2.3/6) had it’s best audience in about a year.

Casting Corner: In Plain Sight, Kath & Kim, Medium and More
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, CBS, NBC, Grey’s Anatomy, Medium,
Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
CSI: Miami: No matter what you think of Diddy, you can’t deny the mans’ diversity. Who else could front several reality shows, star in A Raisin in the Sun and take on David Caruso? According to Entertainment Tonight, the mogul is scheduled to air in two episodes of the CBS drama next year. He will play a federal prosecutor (yeah, I know) who has a personal and professional beef with Horatio’s team.
