This Week on TV (11/5-11/11)

Real Housewives

**NBC will devote this whole week to the environment and inject something ‘green’ into all their shows.  To enjoy it, we must turn on our TVs.**

MONDAY (11/5)

**Special times for the ABC lineup tonight; Dancing With The Stars runs until 9:45 (pushing everything else 15 minutes late).**

  • Prison Break (FOX, 8pm):  Two-hour episode.  Michael finally learns that Sara has been murdered tonight.  I’m curious to see how steely his eyes can get.
  • Everybody Hates Chris (CW, 8pm):  ‘When Chris joins the writing staff of the school newspaper, he makes up a story about a serial killer that causes a panic in the community.’  This is what people get when they don’t pay for a real newspaper.
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8pm):  ‘Marshall learns Lily’s dirty little financial secret when he and she decide to buy an apartment.’  As Suze Orman would say: “If he didn’t realize how many pairs of shoes she had, he’s equally to blame.”
  • The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 8:30pm):  ‘The guys ask Penny to join their ‘Halo’ team.’  The only time boys ask me to play Halo is when they need someone to kill.

‘Project Runway’ Premiere Date

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Bravo,

Project RunwayAfter months of waiting, Bravo has officially announced the premiere date for .  The 4th season will begin November 14th

Why they strangely chose a start date so close to the holidays is unfortunately not mentioned on their website.  Nevertheless, I’m just grateful it’s finally returning.  (Can you believe it’s been over a year since the last season premiered?)

And don’t panic.  Despite rumors he might not return, will be around to critique the new designers (along with , Michael Kors and Nina Garcia).

The 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Coverage

Emmy AwardsThe 59th Annual Emmy Awards has not even started, yet I’m already sensing sensing a weird vibe about tonight’s telecast.  Will the show be a celebration of those young and new (e.g. Heroes)?  Will it be a tribute to those bowing out (James Gandolfini and crew)?  Or will performer Kanye West somehow manage to cast a controversial shadow over the rest of the ceremony?

What a difference a year makes.  Twelve months ago, we were still handing out trophies to stars from Will & Grace and The West Wing (those shows feel so five-years ago now).  Today, we welcome a new crop of nominees including Ugly Betty and 30 Rock for Best ComedyLast year, we were entertained by an always-hilarious Conan O’Brien.  This year, we are threatened by a song and dance number from this year’s host, Ryan Seacrest.  Last August, 24 snagged the award for Best Drama.  This September, it’s not even nominated (yet somehow Boston Legal is).

I think it would be safe to assume the voters would predictably (and respectfully) shower The Sopranos with honors, but I’ll still be crossing my fingers for an upset sometime tonight.  We’ll need something to talk about tomorrow…

Here’s the play-by-play of tonight’s events coming to you from the neglected West Coast!

‘Top Chef’ Star Victim of Anti-Gay Violence

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Reality, Bravo, Cable, Top Chef, News,

Top ChefThe Labor Day Weekend was unfortunately not a festive one for a former contestant.  Josie Smith-Malave, the 4th person eliminated last season, claims that she and several of her friends were victims of an anti-gay assault after a birthday celebration earlier this month.

The gals had been partying at Partners Bar in Sea Cliff, NY but were asked to leave when two of the ladies starting ‘dancing together’.  (Seriously…‘Partners’ isn’t the name of a gay bar?)  As they headed out, a large group followed them outside.  From there, the suspects reportedly spat, hurled homophobic insults, threw garbage and started beating on the women.  Josie, who is openly gay, says her straight sister was one of the victims.  Although the ladies were bruised up, no serious injuries were reported.

Police were called to the scene and are still investigating the incident.  Although a few of the accused assailants were still present when officers arrived, no arrests have yet been made.

The current season of Top Chef can still be seen on Wednesdays @ 10pm on .

UPDATE:  Police have since arrested one person related to this incident.  Matthew Walli, 20, has been charged with ‘second-degree robbery as a bias crime’ (he had stolen Smith-Malave’s camera).  More arrests may still come.

Hey Paula!  I’m Not Done Talking To You…

Paula AbdulThis one goes out to :

Seriously, Paula—you have got to be freakin’ kidding me!!!

Before I just considered you to be pathetic….but now I’m this close to saying I flat out loathe you.  After having watched the latest episode of Hey Paula, I’m certain you’ve at least lost all my respect. OK! magazine may have the pics that could destroy Britney’s career, but has been airing your career destroyer for weeks now.

C’mon—are you seriously telling me that you imposed on your stylist to do your interior decorating for you? (Uhhh, he does your hair and makeup).  A house you never even bothered to go see???  Then you complained when you saw the end result???  Well maybe if you bothered to stop shopping so that you could meet with the designer, she would have known what you wanted!  Besides, it was a rental house—you’re not going to live there forever!

I know I’ve said it before, but I will go ahead and say it again:  I don’t care how much you cry—I don’t feel sorry for you. Now stop talking about the neck pain!

Hey Paula! Have I Got A Few Things To Say To You…

Paula Abdul Let me first say that while it is not a quality show by any means, Hey Paula has given me exactly what I was hoping for:  a train wreck that I can count on.

And while I curse Paula Abdul weekly for being ditzy, overly emotional and sometimes rude (especially to her assistants)...I applaud her for opening up and showing us her true character.  Though I’m sure the actual results are much different from what I’m assuming she intended.

Hey, Paula’s Got Another Show!

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Bravo, Cable,

Paula AbdulInsipid, sweet, tearful – these are only some of the adjectives one might use to describe American Idol judge Paula Abdul. But Bravo hopes to add a few more words to the list by depicting Paula in a new reality show. No, she won’t be judging singing – or, thankfully, anything else. In Bravo’s new Hey Paula, Ms. Abdul will simply live her life as cameras follow her around. Remember Anna Nicole Smith’s offbeat, wacky little ways during the days of The Anna Nicole Show? Early opinion is that Paula will make Anna look like a straight-laced citizen by comparison. In one early episode, Paula will be shown visiting jewel shops in preparation for the Grammys. The jeweler will freak out while Paula allows her two doggies to treat diamonds like chew toys – and she’ll laugh and laugh, like she’s listening to fellow Idol judge Simon Cowell. Bravo will debut several more shows in their ongoing quest to find a winner, including a posh estate-flipping show, millionaire matchmaking, a high-end reality travel agency, and a behind-the-scenes glimpse of a luxury Palm Springs hotel. That really is Bravo’s upcoming line-up…I couldn’t make this up if I tried.
