Brian Hill
After being swept in the first round of the NBA playoffs the Orlando Magic has fired their head coach Brian Hill. One of Hill’s flaws were not utilizing the talents of former Detroit Piston Darko Milicic, and JJ Redick who was the 11th pick in the first round of the 2006 NBA draft. It was heavily rumored that Hill had been fired, but those rumors were confirmed as fact today from an official of the club. The Magic had gone 40-42 this season, and over the course of Hill’s coaching career he’s had 298 wins and 315 losses.

This is a good move for the Orlando Magic. Hill is a veteran coach with a career losing record, and the Magic team focuses primarily on its youth. On a team with JJ Redick, Dwight Howard, Darko Milicic, and Jameer Nelson among others a successful coach could be very helpful to start their careers.

Also such a poor performance in the playoffs can be demoralizing for the youth of the team. In the quarterfinals JJ Redick played in just one game for 10 minutes and 35 seconds. Milicic played only 28 minutes in all four games. Yet veterans like Grant Hill, Tony Battie, and Hedo Turkoglu played at least 21 minutes in all four games, Hill and Battie played at least 30 minutes. For the younger players not even having a say in the playoff games would make them doubt their talents. A change of scenery in the Coach’s position will be a good thing for this team.
