Ed Sheeran has hit out at the Backstreet Boys for playing new music at their reunion shows instead of classic hits.

The "Sing" hitmaker slammed the 90's boyband - made up of Brian Littrell, A.J McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter and Kevin Richardson - for letting their fans down by performing new material during their 20th Anniversary Tour. "I study how other people perform and that is unacceptable, as the Backstreet Boys have so many hits. Do not do that ever again, that is not fair," Sheeran said.

Kevin Richardson Rejoining Backstreet Boys

Kevin RichardsonKevin Richardson is rejoining the Backstreet Boys. The 40-year-old singer departed the group in 2006, but is now planning to get back with his bandmates Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Nick Carter and Brian Littrell to record new music in London this summer.

Nick announced the plans on-stage over the weekend saying, "We're coming back to London in July for three weeks to record our new album. It's been a long time since we've been played on some radio stations and we want all our fans to make pickets and start a protest outside these stations to get them to play our songs."

Discussing Kevin's return, a source told the Daily Star, "Kevin missed the rest of the guys, who he counts as brothers as well as bandmates, and felt now was the right time to return."

The Backstreet Boys are currently touring with New Kids on the Block as part of supergroup NKOTBSB and Donnie Wahlberg recently revealed they were keen to go on another global run of shows in the future.

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry Banned In China

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry

Lady Gaga, Backstreet Boys, and Katy Perry songs have all been banned in China. The Asian country's ministry of culture has deemed 100 tracks by artists unsuitable for its citizens telling websites selling and streaming them both legally and illegally to remove them before September 15 or face prosecution.

The ministry follows guidelines to ensure tracks are not in "poor taste and vulgar content," and claims the songs on its latest list have not been submitted for approval, which has to be done by the song's writer themselves. While most of the songs are by artists from Taiwan and Honk Kong, six of Lady Gaga's tracks have been banned: "The Edge of Glory," "Hair," "Marry the Night," "Americano," "Judas," and "Bloody Mary."
