• Bachelor Pad (ABC, 8pm):  Series debut. “The Bachelor and The Bachelorette meet Big Brother in this elimination contest, in which 19 castoffs from the ABC dating games face weekly challenges while living under the same roof. Before the first elimination, there’s a day-night group date.” Rejects being rejected by rejects? This is Must See TV!
• Last Comic Standing (NBC, 9pm):  Season finale. “The winning stand-up comic is revealed.” I look forward to hearing nothing about this person for years to come.
• Huge (ABC Family, 9pm):  “The campers get anxious when they hear it’s time for their first weigh-in.” The results will determine whom they face in the ring.

This Week on TV (1/4-1/10)

• Heroes (NBC, 8pm):  “Hiro launches a rescue mission but has trouble communicating with Ando about it.” Hiro stopped paying attention to the program a long time ago.
• Conveyor Belt of Love (ABC, 10pm):  Series premiere. “A not-quite fly-by romance contest in which five women check out 30 men on a conveyor belt. The belt stops for 60 seconds to enable the guys to make to make their cases, and if two girls pick the same guy, he gets to choose.” Conveyor belt matches at sushi restaurants will become the new speed dating at bars.
• Hoarders (A&E, 10pm):  “A beekeeper manages his business, but his home is unkempt.” Those worker bees aren’t great at multitasking.

• Make it or Break It (ABC Family, 8pm):  “Trying to unwind, Payson, Emily and Kaylie head to a high-school party, but the evening isn’t as fun as they thought it would be.” They were lead to believe that ‘keg stands’ were an entirely different thing.”
• The Bachelorette (ABC, 8pm):  “Jillian and her final four head to Spain for flamenco in Madrid and a picnic in Seville.” Their plans are interrupted when Javier Bardem asks her to fly away from the weekend.
• Here Comes the Newlyweds (ABC, 10pm):  “The three remaining couples gaze into their futures by speculating on their 10th anniversaries.” Reality show pairs should only focus on making it to next year.
• Weeds (Showtime, 10pm):  “Silas and Doug are off to see ‘The Wizard,’ a marijuana provider whom they need to supply cannabis for their dispensary.” This wizard can help fly people home, or wherever else they’d like to ‘travel’ to.

• The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm):  “Ben tries to figure out where he fits in Amy’s life.” Well, the role of babysitter is always open.
• Jon & Kate Plus Eight (TLC, 9pm):  “Previously unseen footage of the Gosselin’s early years is featured.” Misty water-colored memories of the way they were….
• Cake Boss (TLC, 10pm):  “Buddy creates an ornate wedding cake filled wtih live birds.” Watch out - that might not be fondant you’re eating.
• Dance Your Ass Off (Oxygen, 10pm):  “Twelve plus-size contestants infiltrate Los Angeles in a competition to shed pounds by means of dance and diet in this 10-part unscripted series hosted by Marissa Jaret Winokur.” In other words, a cutthroat version of Sweatin’ to the Oldies.

• The Bachelor (ABC, 8pm):  Season 13 premiere. “Single dad Jason Mesnick searches for a mate among 25 young women. In a new wrinkle, the bachelorettes get to vote for a competitor they’d like to see leave, but Jason has the final say.” Maybe the kid should have the final say. After all, he’s the one who’ll eventually call her “evil stepmom.”
• Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  “Blair tries to get accepted into a distinguished ladies club and Jenny returns to school.” Just to clarify - Blair is hoping join a ladies club, not the gentlemen’s kind.
• The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm):  Series return. “After Amy hears that she needs to find a job, she and Ben decide to get married.” Unfortunately, she later realizes that she still needs to find a job.
• True Beauty (ABC, 10pm):  Series premiere. “Beginning an eight-episode elimination contest in which 10 gorgeous people face challenges to determine the most beautiful—and inner beauty counts as much as physical attractiveness—while they live together in an LA mansion.” Welcome to the future of the Miss America pageant.
