Oscar Nominee Terrence Howard Joins Law & Order: Los Angeles

Terrence HowardTerrence Howard may have lost his role in Iron Man 2, but he has a new chance now to bring bad guys down.

NBC just announced that the Oscar nominee will be joining their new series, , on a part-time basis. The Hustle & Flow actor will share the installment’s district attorney role with Spider-Man 2‘s Alfred Molina.

As L&O fans know, this job-sharing arrangement is similar to how Law & Order: Criminal Intent handled its detective duties.

The Peacock also revealed today that Corey Stoll (Salt) has been added to the cast as Detective T.J. Jaruszalski. Stoll serve as partner to the previously-announced Skeet Ulrich.

  • Little People, Big World (TLC, 8pm):  “Molly fails a Spanish test and decides to stop speaking English until she masters the foreign language.” And you didn’t think anybody learned anything on this channel.
  • Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9pm):  “Charlie’s male ego is bruised when he learns that he hasn’t been satisfying Chelsea.” Well, it has been a long time since he was a Hot Shot.
  • Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 10pm):  “Jon and Kate reflect on changes in their lives and the ups and downs over the years in the series finale.” Just so I’m clear—would Jon’s weight be considered an up or a down?

2009 Golden Globe Awards

One year after a strike-induced absence, the drinking resumed. Although the drew its usual set of followers tonight, this year’s program carried even more significance than usual. The reason? Heath Ledger.

With or without the Dark Knight nomination, the ceremony would have been interesting. Was this going to be the year a film about an Indian game show (Slumdog Millionaire) won top prize? Would either Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia, Doubt) or Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road, The Reader) walk away with two awards? Could ‘s comeback performance in The Wrestler earn him a surprise win over Sean Penn (Milk)?
