VIDEO: TV Envy Interviews Molly Ringwald
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, Dancing With The Stars, Video,
Earlier this week, TV Envy had the opportunity to chat with actress Molly Ringwald—star of Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club – on a variety of subjects including her new book (Getting the Pretty Back), teen pregnancy in Hollywood, her Pretty in Pink dress, reality TV and her connection to another famous redhead.
In addition, Ringwald talked to us about her recent partnership with Ragu. The working mother of three explains why she teamed up with the famous brand and how the company’s Old World Style sauces play a role in her family’s nutrition. (Those who visit Ragu’s Facebook page can also hear Molly talking about her mealtime tips there. Cooking demos and simple recipes are also available.)
Molly can currently be seen on The Secret Life of the American Teenager. That ABC Family series is in the middle of its third season.
Secret Life’s Second Season Closes on a Cliffhanger

Well, is she or isn’t she? Fans hoping to find the answer on The Secret Life of the American Teenager’s Season 2 finale were disappointed when the question remained unanswered at the close of the episode. We still don’t know if Adrian Lee (Francia Raisa) is carrying Ben Boykewich’s (Kenny Baumann) baby, which makes it even harder to wait for the new episodes to premiere in June.

Secret Life Premieres Season 2
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, Gossip, Renewals, Video,
After a brief recap of season one, The Secret Life of the American Teenager showed Amy Juergens (Shailene Woodley) struggling to care for her newborn son while doing chores around the house and attending school. The teen mother is now living with just her mother Anne (played by Molly Ringwald), who will definitely be pregnant in this season. The actress was expecting twins before filming began, so there was no way to continue her story without including a new baby.
It was just serendipity that the second season of the show opened with the same theme as the first - pregnancy. But this time, it’s the mother and not the daughter who is expecting.

Secret Life Finale Leaves Fans Hanging
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, Editorial,

ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager is a runaway hit, scoring acclaim and praise from fans and critics alike. Last month, the show was nominated for a Teen Choice Award. This week, it ended it’s debut 11-episode run in a rather jolting fashion - and left fans wishing for more.
Secret scored right away with viewers, and the numbers show that this successful summer series could warrant a winter run. Almost 4 million viewers (3.9 to be precise) watched the recent “Back to School Special” episode - big numbers for cable.
The remainder of the 23 episodes left in the first season of Secret Life will begin airing in January, but the open-ended mid-season finale left plenty of secrets still undiscovered.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager: Review
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Kids, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, Editorial,

The compelling promos, tons of press and Seventh Heaven association might have been enough to rope me into watching the premiere of ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager, but it was the mere presence of Molly Ringwald in the cast which sealed the deal. And so it was that last night during prime time, I found myself watching cable instead of network TV. I don’t think it was a mistake.
Rollicking pop music kicked off the top of the episode, which immediately plunged its viewers headlong into teen pregnancy. Seriously, the main character Amy (played by Shailene Woodley) was barely introduced (as a marching band member) before she was in the restroom staring at the positive results from a home pregnancy kit. No time wasted here on introductions.
Actually, it felt more than a little forced. The audience was given no time to connect with this character in any way before BAM! she’s knocked up. And then, the beginning credits rolled.

Teenager’s Secret is Out - Will Success Follow?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Cable, Editorial,

I’m not going to mince words, here - I’ve never been a huge fan of ABC Family‘s programming. I’ve stopped on the occasional PG movie and watched re-runs of Who’s Line, sure, but I’ve never been driven to see one of the channel’s original shows. At least, not until now. I accidentally came across a promo the other day for the network’s new The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and stunningly I found it absolutely gripping.
Even more amazingly, I really want to see the premiere. The episode airs July 1, but to whet your appetite the ABC Family’ site is showing the same promo which got under my skin, if you want to catch a glimpse.
